Volunteer Department Ladles Auxiliary, examines « copy of
the recently published Home Town Recipes published by the
auxiliary as a fund raising project. Copies of the book are
available for $2 from any member of the group.
Firemen's Auxiliary Meet
Archer City Firemens’
Auxiliary met Monday for
the election of officers and
named Linda Wright as
president.
Other officers elected were
Annelia Ridenour, vice-pres.
and reporter; Vi McBride,
sec.-t re as. and Carole Crol-
wey, team captain.
The auxiliary has received
copies of the cookbook.
Hometown Recipes from the
publishers and will be
selling the books for $2
each, as a fund raising
project.
C.P.R. Course
To Be Held
A course in cardio
pulmonary resusitation will
be held Feb. 13 in the
Archer City High School.
Angie Canada, a qualifed
Red Cross instructor will
teach the one session course
which is limited to ten.
Anyone interested ia this
iite-savtng method may
enroll with Mrs. Canada, at
the school or by calling her
at home, 574-2137.
There will be a charge of $6
for materials for the oourse.
Mrs. Canada will accept
enrollments until Friday,
Jan. 15.
Income Limit
To $19,500
County Supervisor Larry
Bratcher states that income
limits for Rural Housing
loans have been increased
substan'ially to allow more
rural residents to qualify for
housing loans. The new
income limit for moderate
income applicants is $19,500
adjusted. Adjusted income
is computed by taking total
dependable income and
reduceing it by five (5)
percent then deduct $300
per dependent child. Homes
financed by Farmers Home
Administration must be
modest in cost, size, and
design and applicant must
certify that they cannot
obtain the loan from
conventional lending sourc-
es. Subsidized loans are
available s. applicants who-
se adjusted income is below
$14,000 and interest rates
vary from 13.25% to as low
as 1%. To find out more

North Texas Taxpayers
League will meet Wednes-
day Afternoon. January 20,
1982, 2:00 PM. 701 Petro-

set for the annual convention

State Senator Ray Farabee
announced his candidacy
today for re-election to the
Texas Senate representing
the 30th District. The 30th
Senatorial District will cover
a twenty-nine county area,
plus pan of Denton County,
in Nonh Central and
Nonhwest Texas, if the
proposed redistricting plan
is approved. This will
include Archer County.
Farabee, who is 49 and a
Democrat was elected to the
State Senate in 1974 and is
now completing his second
term of office.
Senator Farabee has served
for 6 years on the Legislative
Budget Board which has
primary responsibility for
preparation of the State

by Governor Clements to the
Texas 2000 Commission
where he serves as Chair-
man of the Agriculture
Committee. He was
appointed by Lieutenant
Governor Bill Hobby to the
Select Committee on Public
Education and was recently
appointed to the Finance
Subcommittee of the Water
Task Force.
Over the past seven years.
Senator Farabee has spon-
sored legislation to benefit
this area as well as the
entire State. As a result of
his legislation, broad and
significant changes can be
expea ed in areas of
taxation, education and
criminal justice:
Taxpayers will save $18
million in 1982 because of
the repeal of the state
inheritance tax.
Taxpayers will save $8
million in 1982 because of
the exclustion of livestock
and poultry from property
taxes.
Small investors will save at
least $4 million annually
through the prevention of
fraud in the sale of business
opportunities.
Prospeaive public school
teachers will have to pass a
standardized test demon-
strating their competency in
basic subjea areas, such as
English and Math.
Retired teachers will be
belter able to keep up with
inflation due to increased
benefits ranging from 7% to •
21%, depending on the date
of retirement.
Street traffic in prescrip-
tion-type drugs will be
reduced as much as 40%
because of striaer record
keeping requirements on
prescription drug dispens-
ing.
Con via ed major drug
dealers will serve a mini-
mum of 10 years in prison
and will forfeit to the state
all property purchased with
illegal drug profits.
The backlog in handling
criminal appeals after trail,
currently 4 years, will be
reduced by at least 50%
because 14 courts are now
able to hear criminal appeals
instead of one.
, In Oaober Archer County
received a direa benefit
from Farabee’s lateral road
fund bill in the amount of
$69,905.25.
“Texas is one the right
track and we want to keep it
there,” Farabee said. "As
Chairman of the Senate
State Affairs Committee, I
will work to maintain the
healthy economy in Texas
and provide solutions to the
problems which will be
facing us in the 1980’s. I
would like to continue my
public service for the 30th
Distria and the people of
Archer County to deal with
these challenges.”
Farabee has been cited
twice by TEXAS MONTHLY
as one of the top ten
leeislators in Texas.
