MRS. DENNIS RHOuta
The Church of La Valita in San Antonio was the setting for a
double ring ceremony for Miss Donna Jo Cross and Dennis Wayne
Rhodes on August 24, 1974. Miss Cross is a graduate of a San
Antonio High School while Dennis is a 1970 graduate of Wylie
High School.
Donna is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Cross, Jr.. 7007
Farrow, San Antonio. Dennis is the son of Lewie and Ester Rhodes
of Wylie.
The newly weds plan to reside at Chase Field in Beeville. Texas
where Dennis is stationed in the Navy.

Miss Howeil Becomes Bride
Of Larry Parker
In a beautiful candleligh'
ceremony Saturday evening
September 14, 1 ‘974 at eight
o'clock in the sanctuary of the
First Baptist Church of Wylie,
Miss Rose Howell became the
bride of Larry Parker.
Attending the bride were Miss
Sherry Howell erf Dallas,
cousin of the bride, as Maid of
Honor; Miss Alicia Howell,
sister of the bride, as Junior
Maid of Honor; and Miss
Marifyn Unruh ^fld Miss Paula

Rev. A.L. Draper officiated at ''Miss Robin Gray.'cotisin of the
the double ring ceremony J groom, acted as fldjver girl. All
under an altar arch decorated were adorned in dresses of 1
with red and white chrysan- and whitfe polyester,
themums, baby’s breath and attendants carried Coi. al
bouquets of red and wtiite
carnations. Little Miss Gray
carried her flower petals in a
basket trimmed in red.

Thy mother of the bride chose
for the wedding a formal
length dress of blue polyester
with long chiffon sleeves. Mrs.
Parker also chose for her son’s
greenery. A seven branch
candleabra on each side of the
archway held white tapers.
Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Howell of
Wylie are the parents of the
bride. Parents of the groom
are Mr. and Mrs. W.A.
Parker, also of Wylie.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride chose for her
gown a creation by Mori Lee
Fashions of a combination of
mira mist and Venice lace
accenting the high neckline
and pinafore shaped bodice.
Ruffled cuffs bedecked the
long sleeves. The skirt and
chapel length train were
deeply bordered in the Venice
lace. The illusion veil was
gathered to a headpiece of a
Alencon lace. Completing the
bride’s ensemble was a
cascade bouquet of white
feathered carnations and baby
breath.
She presented red roses to
both Mothers during the
ceremony.

with a lace top and full pleated
skirt. Both wore feathered red
and white carnation corsages.
Doyle Hoffard of Garland,
cousin of the groom, served as
Best Man. Edward Hinton,
Butch Triby and John
Kostelac. Jr. served as
Groomsmen. Darrel Hoffard,
cousin of the groom, acted as
Ring Bearer.
Serving as candlelighters were
Dennis Douthitt and Dennis
Casey, both of Wylie. Jack
Howell of Garland, cousin of
the bride, and Jack Stewart of
Wylie were ushers.
Mrs. Donna Wood, organist,
presented the traditional
wedding music and accom-
panied Mrs. Peggy Campbell,
soloist, as she presented
“Whither Thou Goest,” and
“I Take Thee, My Dear.”
The reception was held at the
Fellowship Hall of the First
Baptist Church. In the
houseparty were Miss Taron
Brundidge, Miss Gail Gilmore,
Mrs. Martha Truelove, Miss
Wanda Cisson, all of Wylie;
and Miss Neva Gail Moody
and Miss Billie Faye Moody,
cousins of the groom, both of
Community.
The large table was draped
with white and red taffeta
centered with silver candle-
abra holding red tapers and
red carnations and white
poms. One end of the table
held the bride’s three-tiered
wedding cake and punch
served from a silver bowl. At
the other side of the table was
the traditional chocolate cake
of the groom and coffee served
from a silver service.
Following a short wedding
trip, Mr. and Mrs. Parker will
make their home in Wylie at
the Wylie Butane Mobile
Home Park.
