DA KON YA CAMP FIRE
The Da kon ya Camp Fire
group met in the home of Nancy
Gage on Thursday, Nov. 19.
Pat Garrison was elected presi-
dent, Carolyn Phillip., vice-presi-
dent; Hollie Fulton, secretary;
Jema Roderick, treasurer; and
Deborah Jentsch, scribe. The
slate of officers will serve for a
two-month period.
Refreshments were served to
the 11 members present.
The next meeting will be Dec.
2, when they meet in the home
of their guardian, Mrs. Ben Ful-
ton, 420 S. Sycamore, to make a
gift for Christmas.

CHRISTMAS SEAL FAMILY AND GOVER-
NOR—The C. S. Boatright*—Charles and Mary
Jane, DeAnne and Dan, of Austin—met in
Governor John Connally'* reception room re-
cently, with a group of thirteen other fami-
lies from across Texas. They watched the
governor sign a proclamation of Christmas
Seal Days in Texas. All the families had one
thing in common—they had each experienced
tuberculosis. Their purpose in meeting was
to thank the governor for his efforts at bet-
tering TB control in the state, an to watch him
sign the proclamation. The Boatrights have
been designated the 1964 Christmas Seal
Family by the Texas Tuberculosis Association.

Mrs. Virgil Seay Reviews Book
For Delphian Club Nov. 17
The Wildcats proved extra hot
in extra coId weather as they
made history when they beat 12-A
district champs, Keller Indians,
7-0, Friday, Nov. 20, with the de-
fense proving to be the key fac-
tor of the game.
Friday, Nov. 27, the Cats travel
to Abilene to play Goldthwaite,
who upset powerful Baird 8-6, at
7:30 p.m. With plenty of support
the Cats will continue to make
history as they try for their first
regional championship after last
week’s first bi-district champion-
ship.

will be let out for Thanksgiving
holidays.
This past week the school re-
ceived telegrams from Mundejr,
Crowell, and Iowa Park, wishing
us luck in bi-district and hoping
we can go all the way! Thank you
Munday, Crowell and Iowa Park
for these very nice telegrams.
The A and B girls basketball
teams have played two games
each and became victorious in all
of them as they downed Bryson
and Iowa Park.
Friday, Nov. 20, the solemn
Cats sat and listened to the
school’s second pep rally in a
row. Thank you everybody who
took part in both school and town
pep rallies.
The sophomores will take
achievement tests Monday, Tues-
day and Wednesday while the
juniors and freshmen will take
them Tuesday and Wednesday.
Thursday and Friday school
The annual staff held a meet-
ing this past week about the sett-
ing of school anuals.
The band would like to thank
the Athletic Club for chartering
them a bus to Decatur Friday
night.
The Junior High boys and girls
played Electra Monday and the
A and B girls played Electra
Tuesday.
Mrs. Virgil Seay reviewed the
book, ‘‘One Small Candle,” by
Thomas J. Fleming for the Del-
phian Club at their regular meet-
ing, Tuesday, Nov. 17, when they
met in the home of Mrs. Ben
Fulton, 420 S. Sycamore, with
Mrs. R. D. Schlomach as co-hos-
tess.
The book is an account of the
trip across the Atlantic of the
Pilgrims and of their settling in
America. The diary of William
Bradford, who was one of those
aboard the first ship to come to
the new country, was quoted in
the book.
Mrs. Seay, in her review,
brought out the experiences of
the long and treacherous journ-
ey across the broad Atlantic in
the tiny ship. She told how a
small band of “believers,” who
were on board, prayed when the
ship cracked and buckled, and

Royalty Crowned
At Windthorst
Carol Lindeman was crowned
queen of the Windthorst football
team, at homecoming activities
recently.
The queen, her attendants and
their escorts, rode in new cars to
a point on the football field
wl^pre the cheer leaders and pep
squad formed a setting for the
crownirtg ceremonies.
Miss Lindeman is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Lindeman.
She is a senior and is head cheer-
leader.
Leslie Conady, Trojan captain,
was Miss Lindeman’s escort. Oth-
er nominees, who made up her
court, were Dianne Hoffman,
junior, escorted by Larry Berend;
Suzanne Lindeman, sophomore,
escorted by Ray 'Hoffman; and
Donna Lindeman, freshman, es-
corted by Lenny Berend.
Carol Berend, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Lawrence Berend, was
flower girl, and Bob Lindeman,
son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. (Rusty)
Lindeman, was crown bearer.
The queen and her attendants
watched the last half of the foot-
ball game from a setting outlined
in roses with a rose covered arch
in the background.

summarized the great adventure
in these words, “As one small
candle, my light a thousand, so
the light here kindled hath shown
unto many, yea in some sort to
our whole nation. We have noted
these thinks so that you might
see their worth and not negli-
gently lose what your fathers
have obtained with so much hard-
ship.”
A period of visiting and fel-
lowship was enjoyed at the con-
clusion of the program, which

er for the Agricultural Census
