Light Up Your Whites
It's a widely known fact
that age, ruat and the use'of
chlorine bleach on some
fabrics can tum your wash-
able whites yellowish or dingy
gray. But did you know that
all it takes to restore original
whiteness of your favorite
clothes and linens is RIT
Color Remover? Even drab
and worn looking sneakers
turn bright again.
Along with whitening your
washable whites, color
remover removes transferred
dye stains from white cloth-
ing washed by mistake with
colored items, removes stain-
ing on white materials caused
by hard water minerals and
removes the yellowish or
grayed discoloration on white
fabrics caused by time
during storage periods with-
out use.
Using color remover in
your washing machine is easy,
safe and economical. Just
place the clean article in
washer at the hottest setting.
Make sure the material is
not crowded. For a small
wash load, add one or two
packages of RIT Color
Remover to moving water
(not directly on fabric) and
agitate 2 to 3 minutes. Shut
off machine and let stand
for 30 to 60 minutes with
lid closed. Agitate a few
minutes; drain water, and
then add detergent and re-
wash and rinse thoroughly.
If you prefer, use a range
top method. Fill a large
stainless steel or enamel pot
with hot water. Heat the
water to a simmer and add
one package of color remover.
Immerse clean, wet article
in pot, making sure the
material is not crowded.
Stir for 2 to 3 minutes and
remove the pot from the
heat and cover. Let stand for
30 to 60 minutes. Then,
wash and rinse fabric thor-
oughly in hot tap water.
For more stubborn stains,
especially nut, wet the article
with hot water and
immediately place some color
remover powder directly on
the stain. Rub in and proceed
with either the washer or
range top instructions.
Available where fabric dye
is sold, Color Remover is safe
for washable fabric* and will
not weaken fibers. It's an
easy way to brighten your
favorite washable whites!
