TRYING TO GET TO MEDICAL SCHOOL
MESSAGE—I am attempting to get a temporary release from
active duty in the Army to attend medical school this fall. The
Army seems to be having difficulty approving my request and
1 solicit your help to obtain that approval.
I have been accepted to Baylor Medical School and I have an
obligation of 1.6 months remaining to the Army. With the
critical need for doctors In the military, I feel that If 1 am al-
lowed to go to school now those 15 months will be better
spent as an Army doctor. I need an answer soon, as I need to
Inform Baylor of the Army’s decision. Thank you for your
help.—R.B., San Antonio
SENATOR BENTSEN RESPONDS—The Secretary of the
Army advised me that he is in agreement with you. / am
pleased to report that your reguest has now been approved.
“PREVENTED PLANTING" PROGRAM
MESSAGE—We would like your help with a problem we are
having with the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation
Service. During the 1977 planting season we received no
rain which to my mind prevented us from planting. I have
worked cotton for many years and I know that without mois-
ture the seeds simply won't come up.
The A.S.C.S. has a "prevented planting" program and I be-
lieve that we qualify. However, we have been consistently
turned down. Please Investigate this matter.—R.D. Wills
Point
SENATOR BENTSEN RESPONDS-Officials with the
A.S.C.S. tell me that after a careful review of the facts they
feel there is no justification for approving your request They
advise me that it would not be equitable to approve your re-
quest since no other producers in the 40-county area around
your farm were approved for the program.

Rms~Routes Revised
The Texas Education Agency, Transportation
Division, recently approved an additional bus
route for the Wylie Public Schools, along with
changes to existing routes effective August
28, 1978, the first day of the 1978-79 School
Year. Routes are described as follows:
Route 56, Bus #72, will serve the Highway
2514 area North of town, Lakeview Drive, St.
Paul, Meadows, and the Seis Lagos Area,
Route 57, Bus #75, will serve Highway 1378 to
Highway 2514, Highway 2514 West of
Highway 1378, McCreary Road, and Ernst
Road Areas.
Route 58, Bus #73, will serve Twin Creeks
Area, Klingbeil Road, West to Murphy Road,
Moonlight Drive, Blackburn Road, Ingram,
DeWitt, Maxwell Creek, and Hooper Roads,
and Highway 544 into Wylie.
Route 58A, Bus #77, will serve Stone Road,
Kreymer Lane, to Highway 78, the area
behind Leroy’s Bait Shop, Old Highway 78,
Stone Road to Beaver Creek Addition,
Bozman Road, and Twin Oaks Areas on
Highway 544.
Route 60, Bus #10, will serve the area East of
J & T Cabinet Shop on Lake Road, Lake Road
to Glad Acres, Main Lake Road, Highway 7Al
East to Highway 205, including Highway 205 *
area South to the County Line.
Since bus routes have been revised, many
students will be riding different buses that
last year. In addition, routes are occasionally
overlapping with more that one bus on the
same road, so students should not be alarmed
if one of buses passes them by.
We solicit your patience and cooperation
during the period of transition, and students
should get and early start the first few days so
that they will be ready when the bus stops for
them.
