News
Vacation Bible School par-
ents night was held Sunday
night at the Dorchester Bap-
tist Church. The program was
presented by the departments
Enrollment of 71 ami an aver
age of 62 was made. The mis-
sion offering will go to Easton
Penn.; pioneer missions. An
ice cream supper followed the
program.

the wedding of Miss Cynthia
Ann Brown and Clarence Lay-
man Baker.
Parents of the couple are Mr.
and Mrs. Paul L. Brown, Route
2, Sherman and Mr', and Mrs.
Clarence Baker of Fort Worth.
The bridegroom’s uncle, Rev.
Bobby Layman, pastor of the
Washington Street Baptist
Church, Greenville, officiated
at the double ring ceremony.
Mrs. Alton Norman sang “Whe-
ther Thou Goest” and “The
Wedding Prayer.” Mrs. Stanley
Stewart accompanied the solo-
ist and played traditional wed-
ding music. i
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was attended by
Mrs. Charles Koonce as ma-
tron of honor of Commerce.
Bridesmaids were Miss Linda
Groner of Sherman, Mrs. Wayne
Boydston, sister of the bride-
groom of Fort Worth, and Miss
Gail Taylor, cousin of t!.: br’T,
of Dorchester. Clarence Baker
was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen and ushers were
Laffel Brown, brother of the
bride of Sherman, Terry Bilder-
back, cousin of the bridegroom
of Lubbock, and Wayne Boyd-
srton of Fort Worth.
The bridal gown of white sat-
in and lace was designed and
fashioned by the bride and her
mother. The empire bodice was
overlaid with scalloped lace.
The high neckline was embroid-
ered with pearls. The long full
sleeves ended with wide cuffs.
The bouffant skirt was enhanc-
ed with sheer organza. Her fin-
gertip illusion veil fell from a
lace covered headpiece fashion-
ed by the bride’s aunt, Mrs.
John Cumming. The bride’s
cascade bouquet was made of
white sweetheart roses and

Denison visited in the TJorches

The attendants wore identical
empire styled dresses of light
blue voile flocked with white
daisies. Matching headpieces
completed their outfits. They
each carried baskets of daisies
entwined with blue and white
ribbons.
Mrs. Brown designed and
fashioned her dress from pink
lace. It featured a high neck-
line and long sleeves. Mrs. Ba-
ker chose a dress of lavender
made from Lutesong fabric. It
featured straight lines and a
lace coat of shaded lavender.
Both mothers wore orchid cor-
sages.
The bride’s parents were
hosts for the reception held in
the church annex. The bride’s
table was laid with a white lin-
en cloth with a lace skirt over
blue. The table was centered
with a floral arrangement of
daisies. The house party include
Mrs. John Cumming and Mrs.
Billy Mac Taylor of Sherman,
Mrs. Dick Walker of Amarillo,
and Miss Cindy Horak of Dal-
las. Miss Carla Layman of
Greenville registered the guests.
For traveling the bride chose
a princess styled mint green
dress. She wore a white sweet-1
heart rose corsage from herl
bouquet.- After a wedding trip
to New Orleans the couple will
1 be at home in Fort Worth.
Mrs. Baker is a graduate of
Howe High School and East
Texas State University. She is
a homemaking teacher at Deni-
son Senior High School. Mr.
Baker is a graduate of Fort
Worth Polytechnic High School;
and attended Texas Wesleyan I
College. He is employed by Tex-!
as Electric Service Company of
Fort Worth.
Friday evening Mr. and Mrs.
Baker were hosts for the re-
hearsal dinner at Ramada Inn.

The Charity Sunday School
Class of First Baptist Church
held their monthly meeting
Monday evening in the home
of Earlene Arterbury.
Mrs. Tim Belden, president
led the meeting. Mrs. Robert
Helms made a special request
for equipment needed in the
nursery of the church, and it
was decided that the class
would donate the equipment.
Mrs. Ronnie Russell" gave
the devotional. Pink and blue
gifts were then presented to
Mrs. Charles Loftice.
Refreshments were served
to ten members and one guest
Mrs. Linda Jones.
Next meeting will be held
July 19 in the home of Mrs.
Gerald Hickox.
Wedding Shower
Honors Katie Wolfe
Miss Katie Wolfe, bride-elect
of David Eaton, was honored
with a wedding shower Monday.
Hostesses were Mrs. Bill Spence
and Mrs. Ken Walker.
The refreshment table was
laid with a white cloth, and cen-
tered with a miniature bride
and groom. An orchid ribbon
was laid across the table* car-
rying out the bride-elect’s chos-
en colors of orchid and white.
A white cake, decorated with
orchid roses and orchid wedding
bells, was served to 15 guests.
Gifts were presented to the hon-
oree and games were played.
Miss Wolfe is the daughter of
Mrs. Joan Dunn of Howe. Her
fiance is the son of Mr. .and
Mrs. Edward L. Eaton of Deni-
I son.

Shower Honoree
Miss Cathy Powell,
bride - elect of Roy Dale Bon-
ner, was honoree for a bridal
shower Monday night in the fel-
lowship hall at the First Baptist
Church. Hostess for the shower
was the Esther Class. Mrs. Joe
Tolbert, class teacher, led a
prayer and Mrs. James Ham-
monds led the group in a game
and presented the gifts to Miss
Powell. Miss Debbie Sanford as-
sisted the honoree with the
gifts and registered them.
The refreshment table was
laid with white net over a blue
cloth, the bride-to-be’s chosen
color. The table was centered
with crystal candelabra and
blue tapers. Mrs. Loreda Elliott
poured the punch and Miss Su-
san Elliott from Sherman serv-
ice! the cake.

Mr. Bonner is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. D. R. Bonner. The
wedding is planned for July 3
at the First Baptist Church in
Howe.

merchandise at a Sherman
Department store. The certifi-
cate was given by down town
Sherman. All North Texas and
Southern Oklahoma seniors
