ceiving official confirmation
of the proposed merger:
“Many of the areas served
by Southwestern States Tel-
ephone Company which has
its headquarters in Brown-
wood, are contiguous to ex-
changes served by General
Telephone of the Sauthwest.
“The geographic compati-
fcility of the exchanges in-
volved, particularly in Texas
Arkansas, Louisiana and Ok-
lahoma will create overall
operating improvements
which will benefit the cus-
tomers of both companies.”
