Juniors Learn
At Food School
The girls in the pictures above
are recent graduates of Food Fun
For Juniors classes conducted at
the PSJA High School. Magic Valley
Electric Cooperative of Mercedes
sponsored the 5-day cooking class
free of charge to the students.
Food Fun For Juniors offers
girls 9 through 12 one week’s train-
ing in basic food preparation,
kitchen management, table etiquet-
te, and stresses the importance of
a balanced diet.
At the end of the course a
graduation party was held in which
the girls had the opportunity to
show parents, school officials, and
friends what they learned during
the previous week. The girls pre-
sented skits and prepared the food
for the graduation. Each girl re-
ceived a diploma as ‘Mother’s
Favorite Kitchen Helper”.
Magic Valley conducts Food Fun
classes throughout the Valley, reach-
ing nearly 1000 girls each summer.
This is the sixth year that the Co-
operative has sponsored the pro-
gram.
About 70 girls participated in the
PSJA school.
