Rufus A. Beard
Emma Mae Monthie
VfEmma Mae Monlhie, age 85, of Route 9 Waco, formerly of West, died
Sunday morning, January 7,1990 at Providence Health Center in Waco.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sl Paul's Lutheran
Church in Bellmead, the Rev. Walter Albers officiating. Burial followed in
Salem Cemetery in Malone.
Mrs. Monthie was bom March 4,1904 in Navarro County, the daughter of
Rufus Arch Beard, 77, a native of Thomdale, Texas, and a resident of West Joseph and Eva Mae Henson. She married Henry Adolph Monthie on Novem-

life. He married Rosa Lee Urbanovsky in 1930; she died in November 1982.

William D. Bowen, Jr., 85, died December 24,1989 in a Corpus Christi
hospital.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Dec. 27 at the Kostoryz Chapel, with Dr.
John Long and Rev. Allen Lowe officiating. Interment followed at Seaside
Memorial Park, Corpus Christi.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, the Federal Retirees Prison
Association, Alcatraz Prison Alumni Association, Lodge Number 475
AF&AM West, Texas and the Eastern Star Independence Chapter Number
1044, Past Patron. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Lucy Smith and
Ann Wyrick.
Survivors include his wife, Leona Bowen of Corpus Christi; daughter, Pat
Tingle and husband, Jack of Leander, Texas; two step-sons, Herschel Kelley
and wife, Nelda of Kingsville, and Weldon Kelley and wife, Sandra of Corpus
Christi; two step-daughters, Vada Eckard and husband, A1 and Billye Osborn
and husband, Bob, all of Corpus Christi; a brother, Carroll Bowen of Junction,
Texas; a sister, Ruth Selman of West, Texas; eight grandchildren, Aria K.
Hines, Patty Robinson and Eddie Smith, all of Texarkana; Becky Holly, Susie
Harris and Crystal Caiasoris, all of Austin; Kerry Parker of Alburquerque, New
Mexico and Helen Krupa of Waco; five great-grandchildren; ten step-grand-
children; eight step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and cousins.

Deborah Hanak Lackey received
her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Crimi-
nal Justice/Criminology from the
University of Texas at Arlington on
December 16 (her birthday).
A reception was conducted fol-
lowing the graduation ceremony at
the Arlington Convention Center.
Afterwards, a party honoring Debo-
rah was hosted by her husband,
Daniel, her mother, Evelyn Hanak,
and her sister and brother-in-law,
Shirley and Brad Nelson.
Deborah sincerely thanks all of the
relatives and friends who attended
and also for the many nice gifts that
she received. Mr. and Mrs. Lackey
celebrated the holidays with relatives
in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

School this month.
