Hi! I am running late on getting my news together this week. I had
a busy weekend. I trust it will be readable this week. I might skip a
week or two here in December, just have to wait and see. The West
Senior Center will be closed on December 25.
Comingup on December 19, Prevent Blindness Texas will present
a program at the West Senior Center. "Glaucoma Alert Program"
will begin at 9 a.m. with free eye screenings till 11:30 a.m.
Also on that morning, the kindergarten children from West
Elementary will be at the West Senior Center. At 10:30 a.m., they
will present their singing program for everyone. They are always a
delight to see and. listen to, so please come to the center to hear the
children sing.
The monthly birthday parties at the West Senior Center are
usually held on the third Thursday of each month. Birthdays this
month will be recognized on December 21. Thanks to those of you
bringing cakes.
I need to get one of those "A" jokes in this week. The Texas ex had
an Aggie for a brother. The Texas ex was out of town when his wife
had their first child, so the Aggie brother had to take her to the
hospital. She gave birth to twins. According to county law infants
had to be named immediately after birth. So, the Aggie had to name
the twins. He called his brother and told him he had named the girl
twin, "Denise.” "Why, that's really a very pretty name," said the
Texas ex brother, "and what did you name the boy twin?" "De
Nephew," replied the Aggie.
The door prizes last week at the West Senior Center were donated
by Kotch Funeral Home, Community Grocery, West Food Mart, and
Aderhold Funeral Home. Thanks to all of you for your support. The
winners of door prizes were Donna Mangrum, Mary Grmela, Josie
Kubala, Stanley Pavelka (twice), and Annie Kubacak. Congratula-
tions!
Special thanks to WestFest Association for their generous dona-
tion to the West Senior Center. It was veiy much appreciated.
Learn to say kind words-nobody ever resents them.

Ask 20 different people how they cook their fish, and you will get
20 different answers. Ask any outdoors person how he or she prepare
their wild game, you’ll get the same response. It seems that sportsmen
and women alike all have their favorite recipes.
I personally like fish prepared virtually anyway, as long as I don’t
do the cooking. I either overcook, undercook, or find some way to
destroy what should have been a delicious dinner. As far as venison
goes, I always find myself cooking it the same way, fried. Generally,
the stray cats, opossums and coons in the neighborhood are the only
ones who enjoy my cooking, so now I leave the cooking up to my wife.
I think it will be both interesting and fun to receive a variety of
recipes to prepare fish, seafood, wild game and side dishes. I would
like to invite our “reading” audience to participate in a contest of
sorts. If your recipe is published, you’ll receive a free cap and video,
and the honor of your recipe being published. Your recipe will appear
on our website as well at www.fishingandoutdoor.com.
To submit your recipe, simply mail it in a standard envelope
addressed: Outdoor Adventures, ATTN: RECIPE ,P.O.Box310601,
New Braunfels, TX 78131-0601. Please be sure to write “RECIPE” on
the envelope. You also have the opportunity to send it in via e-mail,
angler@idworld.net; write “recipe” in the subject line.
We will print the winning recipe or recipes in upcoming columns
and publish it on our website. Perhaps someone reading this column
will provide me with a recipe that even I can’t mess up.
