REFLECTION
We are all members of the family of Jesus if we
are kind and courteous. Jesus told us this.
Much more important than to be related to him
by blood is to imitate him in our actions. We
make ourselves brothers and sisters of Jesus by
graciousness and generous deeds. Jesus has
great love for his faithful servants. He embraces
us and blesses us. He and he alone is our hope.
He is constantly offering his graces to us; he
comes to us in our suffering and sorrow. Jesus
brings us comfort and peace, or else how could
we go on in life. He gives happiness to hearts.
Everyone has need of Joy and peace. The
mistake is to think that anyone other than
Jesus can give us real happiness.

Fire Destroys Old Land Mark at Ross
A fire, which broke out about 2 a.m.
Tuesday completely destroyed the
Jones Store and Ross Postoffice
located at Ross. J. L. Jones, proprietor
of the store and postmaster at Ross
stated that no cause for the fire could
be found Tuesday morning.
Investigation Tuesday morning
indicated that the postoffice safe had
not been molested. Mr. Jones,
therefore, removed its contents of
stamps, papers and a little money, and
they were not seriously damaged.
On learning of the fire, local residents
pointed to it as a passing of one of the
oldest landmarks in this section of the
country. The exact date of the structure
was not known, but it was assumed to
be over one-half a century old. The late
Solomon Jones, Henry Johnson and Ed
Johnson erected the building and
remodeled it later.
For many years it housed the
flourishing firm of Johnson and Jones,
merchants. J. L. Jones, the owner,
entered the store in 1893 and remained
there since as proprietor. Old-timers
said that the Jone’s store building had
been the center of business and social
life in Ross since the town birth in 1880.
