Grandparents ofthe prospective groom are Doris Mears and the late

The couple plans to marry July 27, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Chalk Bluff

Amber Stephens and Johnny
Mynar III are proud to announce
the birth of their first child, Tay-
lor Michele, born on May 18,2002
at 1:15 p.m. She weighed seven
pounds four ounces and was 20
inches long.

and Ray Stephens of Houston.

Tyler Andrew Kaluza of Ross is proud to announce the arrival of
his baby sister, Taylor Nicole. Taylor was born at 10:24 a.m. May 27,
2002 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco.
Taylor weighed nine pounds six ounces and was 21 inches long.
Proud parents are David and Lynette Kaluza. Grandparents are
Johnny and Patsy Kaluza of West and Billy and Clara Sparks of
Gholson. Great-grandparents are Wilma and the late John Kaluza,
Sr. of West, Louise and the late Carroll Sparks of Gholson, and
Elizabeth and the late Joe M. Grellhesl of Tours.
Family Reunions
Mynar Reunion
The annual Mynar Family Reunion will be on Saturday, June 29,
at Cottonwood Hall near West. Registration will begin at 11 a.m.,
with a meal served at 12:30 p.m. Each family is asked to bring a
dessert.
Activities planned include children's games, horseshoes, wash-
ers, and guessing games. Also raffle, silent auction and a cake walk.
Donations are appreciated.
Everyone is encouraged to bring photos and memorabilia to

Marilyn Lorene Kocurek
graduated from China Spring
High School May 31 with honors
in the top ten percent of the class.
She was a member of Key
Club, Art Club and served as
Beta Club historian. She partici-
pated in the Cougar Band as a
clarinet player, section leader
and was a member of the Centex
Honor Band for four years. She
was a State Qualifier for Solo/
Ensemble in 2000 and 2002.
Marilyn played volleyball and
was a member of the varsity ten-
nis team for three years, placing
in singles and doubles in district.
She was a member of Who's
Who Among American High
School Students and the Na-
tional Honor Roll U.S. Achieve-
ment Academy during her four
years in high school. She re-
ceived the Presidents Education
Award for Outstanding Aca-
demic Excellence and the Uni-
versity Interscholastic League
Scholar Award.
Marilyn received the United
States National Art Award and
she advanced to the state level of
the Texas Art Education Asso-
ciation of Visual Arts Scholastic
Event in 2000 and 2002. She re-
ceived the Juror's and Merit
Awards at the McLennan Com-
munity College Art Exhibit.
She also received the China
Spring High School English IV
Award and the Fine Arts Depart-
ment Award.
Marilyn is a member of St.
Philip's Catholic Community
and youth group. She was also
involved in the youth group at
Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Marilyn is a lifetime member of
KJT Catholic Union of Texas.
Marilyn will attend McLen-
nan Community College and
transfer to Baylor University.
She plans to major in Fine Arts.
Marilyn is the daughter of
Mary Ann and William J.
Kocurek III of China Spring.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
Joe Holy Jr. ofWest, and Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Kocurek Jr. of Robin-
son.
Brandi Lachelle Marak re-
cently obtained her real estate
license and is a Realtor Associate
with Marak Realty in West.
Brandi is a life long resident of
West and a 1998 West High
School graduate. After gradua-
tion, Brandi went to work full
time and then attended MCC for
two years while working part-
time. She attended her real es-
tate classes at MCC as well as
her basics for nursing school.
She also obtained her C.N.A. cer-
tification while attending MCC
and working at St. Catherine’s
nursing home in Waco. Brandi
enjoys volunteer work to help
others.
While Brandi is a newly li-
censed Real Estate Associate she
is not new to Real Estate. She
has assisted her mother Cheryl
Marak, owner-broker of Marak
Realty, for the past several years
with the things she was allowed
to do without a license.
Brandi loves working with
and helping people. She is very
dedicated to her career and
wants to help make everyone’s
real estate transaction a memo-
rable and pleasant experience.
Brandi invites everyone to

Association of Realtors. She
plans on improving her Real Es-
tate skills by continuing to at-
tend classes to obtain several
Realtor designations. She feels
this is very important because it
will allow her to keep up with the
frequently changing real estate
laws and new trends.
‘Kusler - Cony
Richard and Barbara Kusler of Leroy are pleased to announce the
engagement of their son, Donald William Kusler, to Mary Elizabeth
Conk. Mary is the daughter of Richard and Judith Conk of Nanuet,
New York.
Mary is a 1995 graduate of Nanuet High School and she graduated
from Fairfield University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree
in both Politics and Theatre. She is currently a Legislative Specialist
for The American Association of School Administrators in Washing-
ton, DC.
Don is a 1992 graduate ofWest High School. He earned a Bachelor
of Arts degree in History from Sam Houston State University. Don is
currently the Communications Director at Americans for Democratic
Action in Washington, D.C.
A July 27,2002 wedding is planned in New York. A Texas Celebra-
tion honoring the couple is planned for August 17, 2002 in West.

The much-anticipated Texas
Forest Trail Region travel guide
is now available through the
Texas Historical Commission
(THC). The new brochure is
third in a series that highlights
historical and cultural treasures
throughout the state. These
guides are products ofthe Texas
Heritage Trails Program, the
premier heritage tourism initia-
tive of the THC.
"The Texas Forest Trail Re-
gion travel guide leads tourists
through an area that was the
‘Gateway to Texas’ for prehis-
toric Caddo Indians, Spanish
and French explorers, Anglo pio-
neers, enslaved and freed Afri-
can Americans and European
immigrants,” said Janie
Headrick, program director of
the Texas Heritage Trails Pro-
gram. “It encompasses four na-
tional and five state forests,
abundant lakes and rivers, the
Big Thicket, old southern plan-
tations, historic courthouse
squaresgreat shopping, deli-
cious food and some of the oldest
towns in Texas,” said Headrick.
