Jana Harlow
Jana Harlow, daughter of
Mr and Mrs. Steve Harlow
of Mesquite, celebrated her
second birthday Thursday,
December 1.
Jana is the granddaughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Snapka of West, Mrs
Mozelle Harlow of Waco,
and Dr. R.F. Harlow of
Austin.
New Book
Published
By Hill Jr.
The Hill Junior College
Press has published the new
book. "Robert E. Lee.
edited by Col. Harold B
Simpson, director of the
college's History Complex.
The book contains articles
about Lee written by
Jefferson Davis and
Alexander Stephens and is
now on sale through the
HJC Press Office in the
Confederate Research
Center in the HJC library.
Hardback editions are
$10 and a limited number of
leather hand bound editions
are available for $60. Col.
Simpson will be available in
the center and at a number
of local autographing parties
to sign copies of the book.
Simpson said the book
contains well written
evaluations of the great
Southern leader by the
president and the vice
president of the Confederate
States and includes a
portfolio of 16 selected
photographs of Lee
including his first and last
photographs.

90th Birthday
Mrs. Mary Svacina
Mrs. Mary Svacina, a
lifelong resident of the
Penelope, Tours, West
area, was honored with a
90th Birthday party
November 26 at the
Penelope Parish hall
The party was attended
by family and friends,
including her sister and
brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Pisklak Sr of
Rosenberg, Mr. and Mrs
John Demny and Mrs.
Martha Vacek of the
Houston area.
Mrs. Svacina has four
children, 25 granchildren,
53 great grandchildren and
five great-great-
grandchildren.

Community Hospital,
Father Zlentek,
Monsignor Doskocil,
