Tips for moms who
want to quit smoking
If you slip and go back to smok-
ing, first find out wha^prfAsea
the slip and keep tryifi^td^ult
Ask for help and support from
your doctor, friends and family.
Make a list of reasons for quit-
ting.
Set a quit date-the sooner the
better. If you are not ready to set
a date, begin to cut down on smok-
ing. Then, make a plan to stop all
smoking in the near future.
Ask for stop-smoking materi-
als from the American Lung As-
sociation and read them. A
smoker needs to learn about your
own smoking habit and plan ways
to cope with urges to smoke after
you quit. Try the 4 D's: Delay,
Deep Breathe, Drink Water and
Do Something Else.
again until you make it for good.
The only failure is if you stop
trying.
In addition, to help protect
children from secondhand smoke,
the Lung Association suggests
the following: Don't let people
smoke in your house; Don't lfet
people smoke in your car; Don’t
let baby sitters/day care staff
smoke around your baby.
For more information, call the
American Lung Association at 1-
