Tommy Muska welcomed
34 Kiwanians and the
following guests: Jane
Vardiman and Bill Patteson.
Two Key Club members
attending were Terrie Rejeck
and Kim Kolar, both seniors
at West High School
Special guests, a part of
our program; were: Shirley
Kubala. sponsor of the West
High Junior Historians and
Beseda Dancers, co sponsor

members of the Beseda
Dancers Darrin Banik,
Bubba Sefcik and Amy
Gerik
President Tommy
announced there would be
no meeting on Oct. 12
because of our Annual
Pancake Supper. Tommy
also announced that our
Anniversary Banquet would
be on Nov. 10.
We had two programs.
The first was Lt. Governor
Raymond Caldwell of Ennis
inducting our new Kiwanis
officers. Raymond
represents Division 36. Our
new officers include:
President Tommy Muska,
First Vice-President David
Pareya; Second Vice-
President Vince Incardona;
Temporary Secretary Poone
Morgan (in the absence of
regular Secretary Ben
Sulak); and Treasurer Al
Payne.
Board members inducted
were: Larry Junek. Skip
Reaves, James Maler, Al
Marchak and Russ Wilsey,
Immediate Past President
Walt Mellgren Jr. will serve a
one year term on the Board.
Our other program
included the Beseda
Dancers, a colorful group of
young people from West
High School who performed
several Czech and German
dances for the Kiwanians.
This group performed in the
high school auditorium and
did a great job! The
Kiwanians are proud of this
young group of students
who are carrying on the
tradition of these dances.
We thank Mrs. Kubaia, Mrs.
Doherty and this group for
their fine performance
On “spin the wheel" the
first name stopped on Milton
C. Morgan who became the
mystery hand shaker. The
second name stopped on
Harry Harrington, who did
not shake my hand and
there was no winner

Gerald will have their bazaar
Saturday. Oct. 15 beginning
at 3 p m Turkey dinner and
all the trimmings will be
served at 5 p.m.
Mr and Mrs. Jody
Hannes and family of
Colorado Springs, Colorado
visited friends and relatives
in Leroy When they
returned home, Mrs Will
Hannes returned with them
for a visit. She reports
having a lovely trip and
enjoyed the beautiful
scenery, but was glad to be
back in Leroy.
St Martins of Tours will
have Cemetery Memorial
Services at 1:30 p.m. Oct
30 West St Mary’s services
will be at 3 p m, the same
day.
Several people from
Tours and Leroy attended
the picnic on Sunday in
Westphalia.
L T & G volunteer fire
department will again have
their chili-stew supper Nov.
5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the
Tours Hall
Mrs Roberta O'Neill,
daughter of Rose and
Robert Lucien was seriously
injured in a two car accident
in Okeechobee, Florida Oct
5 Roberta was transferred
from Okeechobee Hospital
to Lawnwood Medical
Center in FT Pierce, Fla.

neck and remains there at
this time
Mr and Mrs. James
Debbendener have returned
home after spending two
weeks in Anaheim, Cal
with Mr and Mrs Eric
Larsen and family.

Svrcek — Kolar
Mr and Mrs. August Dvorak of Penelope are happy to
announce the engagement and approaching marriage of
their daughter, Barbara Svrcek to Thomas Kolar, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Alfons Kolar, Sr., of Rt. 1, Mt. Calm.
The couple plan a 1:30 p.m. wedding on November 12 at
the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in
Penelope.
Both are graduates of Penelope High School She is
currently enrolled as a sophomore at Ffill Junior College. He
attended TSTI and is employed by Fleetwood Homes of
Texas.
Uptmores Celebrate Birthdays
Lenart — Fullerton
Teresa Gail Fullerton and Thomas Joseph Lenart are
engaged and plan to marry at 2 p.m. November 26 at The
Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Mack Fullerton Jr. of
Hillsboro and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lenart of Abbott.
* Miss Fullerton is a 1980 graduate of Hillsboro High
School and attended McLennan Community College. She
is employed by Towne Square Furniture Inc. as a plant
secretary in the Purchasing and Inventory Control
Department. , , ,
Lenart, a 1979 graduate of Abbott High School, received
a associates degree in Electronics from Tyler Junior College.
He is employed by Texas Power and Light Company as an
engineer.
All friends and relatives are cordially invited.

Tamara Kay Schwettmann
Marsha Schwettmann is proud to announce the arrival of
her daughter, Tamara Kay, born at 6:45 p.m. Sept. 24 at
Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. She weighed
seven pounds 15 ounces and was 19 inches long. She was
welcomed home by her brother, Justin.
Her father is the late Steve Schwettmann. Proud
grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nors Jr. of Ross and
Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Fulcher of Abbott. Great-grandparents
are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas King of Canton, Mrs. Chloe
Matthews of Irving and Mrs. Henry Nors Sr. of West Rest
Haven.
