Kiwanis
News
By Milton C. Morgan
As Club president, Tommy
Muska presided over our last
meeting of the Kiwanis year
and his last as our president.
He simply said — "Thanks to
all you Kiwanians who helped
me during this past year."
And to club president
Tommy, we offer our thanks
to you who served us so well
during the last Kiwanis year,
and now you can join us out
in the “audience" and smile
real big and help all of us
welcome our incoming
President David Pareya as he
takes over the reins of the
West Kiwanis Club. Thanks a
bunch, Tommy for all your
hard work!
There were 43 Kiwanians
present at the Sept. 26
meeting with the following
guests: Adrian Smith, Roy
Cooper, Sherry Harrington.
Pat Archer and Coach Phil
Gerik whose Trojans blasted
Mexia last Friday night! Our
Congrats to the Trojans and
all the Coaches!!
Our Program was
presented by Lou Scott.
Publicity director of Westfest
Lou gave us a report on
Westfest and gave the
following approximate figures
of revenue the two day event
brought to the economy of
West. According to Lou.
Westfest was a success.
Estimated figures was
$166,000. This figure does
not include food booths and
arts and crafts. There were
$27,700 paid admissions and
7,000 passes issued. Beer
sales were down somewhat
from a year ago as 654 kegs
were sold.
The new drive-in entrance
was a very good
improvement Changes that
will be made for next year
include: some grass will be
planted to help keep down
the dust and some paving will
be done. All this to improve
our Westfest for 1985.
Thanks Lou for a good report
which certainly will help our
West economy!
On the big spin of the
wheel, the name of Kirk
Wines came up. so we-had a
winner!
