The recently organized Sintor
Parent-Teacher Association wile
Kjionsor a special train to the Sin-
ton PIrate-Falfarrias Jersey gam -
in Falfurtias, Friday. October 24th.
it was announced this week by Su-
perintendent E. Merle Smith.
At least 225 paid adult tickets
must be guaranteed to secure the
train, Mrs. E. J. Mutchler, chair-
man of the sales Committee, stated.
Assisting Mrs. Mutchler with sales
are Mrs. C. J. Schaefer and Mrs.
Jim Woifshohl. Tickets are now on
sale at Dawson's Drug Store and at
the high school. The committee will
also sell tickets at the Pirate-Freer
Buc-karoo game Friday night, Mrs.
Mutchler said. .Prices for the round-
trip fare will lie .$4.49 for adults
and $2.25 f r children under 12
years old.

Pr., Odem lost one of its mos*
prominent citizens. He had large
farming interests and was also
president of the Planters Grain Co-
Op, and president of the Smith Gin
in Odem.
A man of robust physique, his
death from a heart attack while
visiting in Alpine was a profound
shock to all who knew him.
Carey De Auchey Eads was the
son of the late Mr. and Mrs, h.
M, Eads, and was born at Mineral
City, Bee County, on March 21,
1S96, attending school in Sinton.
He served with a trench mortar
batttery in World War I, one year
in France, and at the time of his

Sinton Boy Scout Troop 36 won
the Tom F. Ivey Advancement Tro-
phy for the second consecutive
quarter Tuesday night a{-- a joint
Court of Honor in Taft at the High
School Auditorium.
Eagle Scout Bill Ewing was
warded fogr merit badges in
Horsemanship, Marksman ship,
Rocks and Minerals, and Hiking
ihd Charles Stewart awarded one
rm rit badge in Bookbinding. Three
boys were adanced to Star rank.
They were Bill Gwin Stewart, and
Sidney King.
H. W. Herndon, district ad-
vancements chairman, was in charge
of the court in which members of
troops from Taft, Aransas Pass,
Gregory and Sinton received pro-
motions,
It was the first time that a troop
had won the advancement trophy
twice in succession , and also the
first tint? that a, visiting troop had
carried off the reward, according to
Fred Star-buck, assistant Scoutmas-
ter of Troop 36. The award' is made
each quarter to some -troop in San
Patricio County. Mathis and Odem

of Honor.

its 1947-M8 clujp. season Saturday
morning with a coffee at the home
of Mrs. William R. Cavitt. honor-
ing the incoming president, Mrs.
J. E. Dodson.
Hostesses wore the members of
the club's yearbook committee, Mrs.
J'allard Montgomery, chairman; Mrs.
Cavitt, Mrs. \V. D. Hopson, and
Mrs. Johnnie M. Brown.
Presidents of four other Sinton
clubs were guests. They were Mrs.
D. E. Nicholson, The Frances Alex-
ander Club; Mrs. W. C. Farquhar,
the Pierian Club; Mrs. Rocky Har-
key, the Sinton Music Club, and
Mrs. J. W. Benson, the Modern
Priscilla Club. Other members of
the Woman's Study Club in attend-
ance were Mrs. M. Daniel, Mrs.
Davis Vickers, Mrs. Ben Benson,
Mrs. W. E. Beyer, Mrs. Ray N.
Franklin, Mrs. W. G. Martin, Mrs.
A. Z. Fulliek, ^irs. D. W. Martin,

Honorary Sorority
Miss Patricia Ann Sims, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Loy Sims of
Sinton. has been elected to Alpha
Lambda Delta, honorary scholastic
sorority for freshman girls, at the
University of Texas. Miss Sims was
also named to the Ashbell Literary
Society for honor English students.
Membership in the sorority re-
quires a 3.6 grade average, or at
least three A's and two B's, during
the first semester at the University.
Miss Sims is a member of the
I>*-ita Delta social sorority, Girl
Scout Organization, Mental Hy-
geine Club, YWCA and is a dormi-
toiy advisor.
