HERE AND THERE
St. Paul as well as other com-
munities around Sinton is really
beginning to feel the drouth. If
most areas do not get rain in a
few days the crops will be very
short if there is any crops at aH.
After the short crops last year
the farmers are really beginning
to hurt badly. Most farmers aro
poisoning and praying for a rain
at the same time it seems mofct
feel they could really afford to
poison again if only they could
gH the rain. Let's hope by the
next issue that we will have had
a good two or three inch rain.
The big election is over for
some candidates but to those who
are in a run-off it is a few more
weeks of really hard work. Every-
one says this is the cleanest local
campaign ever conducted for pub-
lic office in this area. It is a pleas-
ant thought to think that all the:
men running are of auch high cali-
ber that no one can say anything
of their, character. This is the
type of men that we need to serve
the public.
Schoolibells will be ringing for
the last time for a large group of
our young citizens. It’s always a
sad time for parents and a happy
time for most graduates. Let’s
hope we have equipped them well
to go out into life and take on
their full share of responsibilities.
The St. Paul 4-H Club will hold
their regular monthly meeting
Friday night, May 11, at 7:30 at
the Community Center. A large
group of youth from this dub
took honors in the competition at
Alice this past Saturday. Miss
Elaine Bremer and Miss Cecile
Mokry won a first with an Embryo
demonstration and Danny Pawlik
was among the Jr. Landscape
team who won a first He was top
point youth in the Junior Divis-
ion with a score of 425 out of
503. The Senior Landscape team
won a third in a very tight score.
Among this team was Robbie Paw-
lik. A Junior team with Judy Rozy-
pal and Cathy Hartung placed sec-
ond in Vegetable Production and
Demonstration. Out of the Senior
Riffle Team who placed second
was Ronnie Hedtke, Eric Hart-
zendorf and Larry Rauch from the
Club and in the Junior Rifle Chib
who placed second was Monte
Cornwell of the St Paul Chib.
Joan Miller and Sylvia Beyer
placed third in Dairy Food Dem-
onstration. We are very proud of
these youth and wish those who
go to A&M success on June 5-7.
