It IS an old saying that when the
farmer is prosperous everybody is
prosperous and perhaps this bus not
been lately demonstrated in a mon
practical manner than the past two
days when E. L. Swaim, a pdultry
dealer of this city, paid out more
than »4.«00 to men and women in
(he Sherman trade territory for
poultry.
Mr. Swaim paid off in checks ann
wrote about 350 of them. This -hows
to what extent the money was di-
vided up and today a restaurant
man. going in the- store to buy some
suffering said: “Mr. Ewalro, 1 got some
neglecr|0f that money you turned loose
yesterday. I cashed several of those
checks at my place alter farmers
had eaten. A grocery in err hunt
told him a similar story ami then u
dry goods man said: “I cashed
more Swaim checks yesterday. In
dry goods, than I took in money.
You certainly bought poultry from a
lot of people. An incithator man
sold an incubator to one of the
farmers, a blacksmith owned up to
getting a Swaim check and there
were few places in the city that
didn't get some of the money paid
out to the farmers.
The old saying above referred to
was well demonstrated.
