names of the several parks of Sher-

never' been given official names. It
was decided h,v the Commission to let
the park committee of the Civic Tsatgue
recommend names. This committee
asks, for suggestions from the public,
ail'd they in turn will recommend
names to the Commission. It has been
suggested that the names lie made sug-
gestive of the part Sherman took in
the remit war. and tills suggestion is
meeting with general favor. «
An ordinance prohibiting vehicles
from driving across the parking of the
Texas Electric Railway on North
Grand avenue was passed on its second
reading.
A new schedule of rates to apply on
ladlers used for commercial purpose*
In Sherman from April 1 to October 1,
making the minimum gate of 18 cents
per thousand feet, which is lower
tbun was effective last year, was pre-
sented by the North Texas Gas Com-
pany.-
Council Canvasses the Vote.
A petition was presented front prop-
erty owners on North Cleveland ave-
nue, asking for the paving of that
street from Houston street to Rick-
ards. It was ordered filed.
The reading of the city manager's
report went over until next Monday,
on account of the meeting of tin* City
Council, which was called for 8:30
for the purpose of canvassing the vote
iu the municipal election held last
Tuesday. Several minor changes were
found iiy an official count. Mr. Wil-
son's majority over Mr. Rodgers being
found to l)f 10-1 instead of 110, ami Mr.
Ely leading the ticket for councilman
by tvyo .votes over Mr. Shaw. The offi-
cial count showed that 830 votes were
east in the election, as follows:

Negro Boy Shot.

Fort Worth. Tex., April 8.—James
Mitchell, a 17 year old negro, is at
the City-County Hospital in a precari-
ous condition as the. result of being
accidentally shot by a gun in tlte
hands of a friend. Mitchell said the
shooting was accidental hut refused to
give the name of the person responsi-
ble to attendants at the hospital.
The youth is not expected to mov-
er. The discharge of tlte guh perfor-
ated' the abdomen. An operation was
performed in an' attempt to save liis
life. The shooting occurred on East
Fourteenth street. Police have no
record of the shooting.

automobile foiled an attempt to hold
up Mr. and Mrs Frank Shipley as they
were returning to their home at Cache.

a slow rate along the road a man
jumped on the running hoard. Before
he hud an opportunity to say anything
a dog in the car made a lunge at him,
knocking the man to the ground, While
