working to secure a hell which wes
presented to the First Baptist church
of McKinney by Captain Ranney dur-
ing its csirlw history.
-'The liell was ordered by Captain
Ranney amt given to the church dur-
ing (lie short pastorate of I*r. R. O.
Buckner, the honored founder of
Buckner Orphans' Home *of Dallas.
Dr. Buckner's name Is engraved on
the hell.
“It was under this hell first meeting
of Baptist deacons assembled with J>r.
Buckner to lay plans for the beginning
of (lie present Buckner Orphanage,
which now 1ms some 800 orphan chil-
dren, and has I teen the home of some
10,(HM* orphans since its beginning.
“The liell in lapse of time was sold
to the Methodist brethren at GrayblH
and removed to that, place in North
Collin, and for some time passed out
of the minds of our people. Some two
years ago Dr. Buckner asked me to
try And locate it and send it to the
orphans Home, its a historic relic. I
have just returned from Graybftt
where I have been to see the board of
trustees and stewards of that ehuft-h.
They meet. Saturday and I feel sure
will vote (o return the bell to the or

time to come. The name of the trus-
tees of Gray bill Methodist church are;
Ham Giles and Walter fowling; Board

nivorsary Jan. 3rd, 1917, and at that
time a great program will lie on at
the Orphans' Home and lie is very an

are not asking them to make It a gift
and in any case I trust the friends
