The Texas company, which has of-
fices in Sherman has made the fol-
lowing official announcement:
“Notice—The Texas Company an-
nounces that nil employes who are
now in the Nationnl Guard of auy
state and who. prior to this date, have
left their duties with the company in
answer to the call of the president for
the mobilization of the National Guard,
will be paid one-half of their wages
or salaries from the beginning of such
service until Iiecember 31, 1916, un-
less released from their military du-
ties. before that date.
“Prior to December 31, 1910, the
company will again consider wlmt
further action it will take in this con-
nection.
“Instructions will lie Issued covering
details of handling these payments.

ceipt of a letter from the U. S. De-
partment of Commerce concerning the
demand throughout the United States
for waste paper. This is accompanied
by a Card from a man near Shermap
who has waste paper to sell. Concern-
ing this Mr. J. E. Surratt, secretary
of the Chainlier of Commerce, said:
“We believe that if someone will take
hold of the proposition and handle it
in a business-like way they can make
some good money out of the handling
of waste paper. There is not only in
Sherman but in the surrounding towns
