tive committee of the Sherman
(hamber of Commerce held last
night in the office of Secretary R. L.
Hal], the organization votel the sum
of *100 to the Sherman Baseball As-
sociation, Telegrams were sent to
Senator F. 15. Cowell and Represen-
tatives Rev us, McMillin and Charles
M. Spradley. protesting against the

eny other adverse railroad legisla-

A message from the home of Mr.
and Mrs. John Teague, ix miles
southwest of Sherman, slates that
Miss Norma Harrell, who was so
painfully -injnred in dn antomobife
accident las* Friday afternoon is
still in a critical condition. Her right
leg was broken and the calf of her
left leg was literacy ground to a
iphlp and an iron rod run through
the fleshy pert of it. Her sister. Miss
Inez, who sustained a broken collar
bone and many bruises, is also im
somewhat of a precarious condition
although she is improving. The
father, Willis Harrell, and son, O1-
lie Harrell, ere all right, their bruis-
es proving slight.
The pastors end quite a number
of tho men of the various colored
churches of Sherman have organiz-
ed what they are pleased to term an
interdenominational club, which will
l>e known as the "Laymen's-Go-to-
Chtt'-eh Movement.” It is announc-
ed that the organisation is for the
purpose of developing the negn
men spiritually, financially and
morally. The members will also
take an active interest’ in civic Im-
provement, deepen the interest of
the colored citizens in charity and
expand tile higher ideals in the
hearts of the young, negro men
and boys In Sherman, it is stated.

Within the past month hi lias lost
n cow for which he paid $75, seven
head of work horses, valued at |15(t
each and his fattening itogs. The
latter died with the cholera. The
covv died* just u few days after he
purchased her, when she gave birth
to twin calves. The first two horses
that died Mr. Oneal was of the
opinion at the time had been: acci-
dentally shot by hunters, as sntaii
holes wore found in their bodies.
The other five have died within the
past two weeks, one dying this
morning.
Dr. Robert Flowers, who \yent

two of the animals open and made
