|E. Surratt, assistant secretary of
jthe Dallas Chamber of Commerce,
I will become secretary of the Sher
man Cnamber of Commerce.. Mr.
Surratt has tendered his resigna-
tion to the directors of the Dallas
I Chamber to become effective not
[later than August 1st.
The following regarding Mr. Sur-
ratt has been furnished the Deino-
|crat:
Mr. John E. Surratt was horn in
I Texas, reared on a Texas farm and
educated in a Texas University. For
I three years he w as in McLennan

and anxious to work, and with the
plans that have been outlined by
the Executive Committee the new
secretary and the various commit-
tees should be able to accomplish

we can not have prosperity in eith-
er town nor country unless all work
together for the upbuilding of both.
Grayson County produces more than
fifteen and one-half millions of
dollars of wealth annually, more

Fine Program is Being Arranged
for Old Settlers' Reunion.
Announcement was made this
morning that the annual reunion
and picnic of the Grayson County
Old Settlers’ Association will this
year consume five days instead of
four, as haa heretofore been the
practice and as had been announced
for this year.
The dates agreed nn are Aug.
17. 18. 19, 20 and 21—Tuesday.
Wednesday, Thursday, FYiday and
Saturday.
This change has been announce 1
after a conerfence between the pro-
gram committee and the directors
of the Grayson County Old Settlers
Association, in order to give the
Farmers’ Union of ~rayson county
a full day on the program. This
part of the program will be arrang-
ed by Judge S. D. Steedman, j
prominent member of the organiza-
tion and an official - in the union,
and will be announced shortly.
The program committee an-
nounced tedav that all attractions.
Including the band, will be arranged
for five days instead of four,
and that all who attend will be
given a good time.
The outlook for a big reunion
and picnic this year ia very bright.
The farmers have made splendid
crops and everything seems proni-
tious for a largp gathering of the
people.

brought to Sherman have already
been arranged for and more will bn
secured.
While the entire program has not
'yet been completed, enough Is
known to make the announcement
that more prominent men will be
here this year than for many years,
