Is Sherman Spencer in Sherman?
Has Sherman Spencer been in Sher-
man? Where is Sherman Spencer?
The above are some of the ques-
tions that are worrying some peo-
ple just now. it will be remember-
ed that Sam Bailey, an aged and
eccentric bachelor recently died in
Oklahoma, leaving $54,000 in a
Denison hank, which lie willed to
Shot-man Spencer. Already theft
lias been a contest in llie probate d -
partment of the county court here
in tile matter of the appointment of
a temporary administrator, Judge
Adamson appointing W. O. Meginnis
of Denison,
Since I lien the attorneys repre-
senting Sherman Spencer made ap-
plication to probate the* will in the
counly court of Grayson county, and
John T. Suggs and Judge Ben L.
Jones, attorneys for the other side
of the controversy, filed a contest
against the probating of the will.
•New interest, was created in the
matter today when John J. Wood,
Jr., an attorney of Berlin, Wis., ap-
peared in Sherman and went over
the papers in the will. A report also
became current that Sherman
Spencer had come with him, hut this
was denied this afternoon. How-
ever, the statement was made that
Mr. Spencer has been in this city,
and is now in Shawnee, Okla., and
will lie here again scon.
it is also known that quite a
number of telegrams have been re-
ceived from various parts of i the
United States, and several different
men claim to know Sherman Silen-
cer, and where lie is, hut so far he
lias failed to make himself known
to the court here.
