Conspicuous among the highest exam-

can show is Hostetter’s Stomach Bitters.
The record of its triumphs over disea'e is
to be graced in the written acknowledge-

down on the morning tram—spent the
day, and returned on the evening tram.
Our dreams are more than realized.
Though the day was not one of golden
color, our visit was one of the pleasant-
est in memory. The scenery along the
road from Caddo to Dei ison, is one
grand panorama of beauty. The tourist
should not fail to see it. Red river scen-
ery is worthy of the artist’s pencil and
the poet’s pen; and is not more than
equaled by a view from the upper win-
dows of the depot buildings of the M.,
K. Si T. railroad in Denison. We felt at
home in the United States, and would
like to live in Denison, if we could not
live in Caddo. Mountains or cotton
throng the side-walks. Vegetables—
radishes, onions, beets, parsley, turnips,
cabbages, carrots, potatoes, lettuce, ap-
ples, lemons, oranges, pine-apples and
banannas. tempted our appetite, and so
wc went to the Nelson House for dinner.
When we went to settle our bill, wc
found it had been settled; by whom, we
know not. but presume Mr. Samuel Wil-
son could tell if he would.
We spent a pleasant hour in the dry
goods stole of Mr. Louis Bornstein Si
Co., and found them accommodating and
polite; and we recommend them to the
favor ol those who contemplate Agoing to
Denison. Mrs. 1J. G. Bold rick also en-
tertained us pleasantly, and will be re-
membered in the future.
One thing, only, prevented our com-
plete satisfaction. We failed to get a
glimpse of the far famed “Texas editor.”
We could nut muster courage to beard
the lions in their dens and came away
leeling that we had failed to perform the
duty of a journalist. Friends insisted
that “it was the duty of brother journal-
ists to call on each other,” blit as the sis-
ters’ duty was not so clearly defined we
hesitated.
Our return trip was enlivened by the
agreeable conductor, Mr. Haynes, and
Prof. Jones, of Caddo. Now, by way ol
conclusion, permit us to add, we intend
to go to Denison again.
Our neighbor is mistaken in one tiling,
the duties ofthe sisters. Texas editors
arc always pleased to see them, and the
oftener the call the better they like it.
We are truly sorry our Caddo irietid did
not come and see us, and wc insist, that
the next time 1 he visits Denisou she d rop
in at the News office, and we will try
our best to make the visit a pleasant one.

Many ot our readers w ill remember a
man styling himself Col. W.C. McCarty,
formerly from Galveston, who was at one
time largely engaged in the land agency
business in Texas, and who, a few years
ago, headed an excursion to Texas in tiie
interests of immigration. The New York
Herald reveals one of his more recent
speculations, in which he figures as the
agent of a lady, Mrs. Lynch, to negotiate
a loan of fifteen thousand dollars worth
of diamonds, and instead of doing so he
appropriates them to his own use. He
and hi* companions in the little job, are
now in the Tombs, awaiting the action
of a New York Grand Jury.—Austin State
Gazette.
It will be recollected McCarty was in
Denison a couple years ago, with a party
of English “lords.”

the most enthusiastic advocates of pro-
