A postponement of the Fiftli Concert
of the Public Libraiy of Kentucky has
been so generally anticipated, and is so
manifestly for the interest of all con-
cerned, that it must meet the approval of
all. The day is now absolutely fixed and
there will be no variation from the pro-
gramme now announced. A sufficient
number of tickets had been sold to have
enabled us to have had a large drawing
on the 31st July, but a short postpone-
ment was consideied preferable to a par-
tial drawing. Let it be borne in mind

TUESDAY, SEPT. 1st, 1874.
The object constantly kept in view by
l)r. J. Walker’s California Vin-
egar Ritters are a purely Vegetable
preparation, made cbielly from the na-
tive herbs found on the lower ranges of
the Sierra Nevada mountains of Califor-
nia, the medicinal properties of which
arc extracted therefrom without the uso
of Alcohol. The question is almost
daily asked, “What is the cause of the
unparalleled success of Vinegar Bit-
ters?” Our answer is, that they remove
the cause of disease, and the patient re-
covers his Health. They are tho great
blood purifier and a life-giving principle,
a perfect Renovator and Invigorator
of tho system. Never before in tho
history of tho world has a medicine been
compounded possessing tho remarkable
qualities of Vinegar Bitters i:i healing the
sick of every disease man is heir to. They
are a gentle Purgative as well as a Tonic,
relieving Congestion or Inflammation of
tho Liver and Visceral Organs, in Bilious
Diseases.
The properties of Dr. Walker’s
Vixegar Bitters are Aperient. Diaphoretic,
Carminative, Nutritious, Laxative, Diuretic,
Sedative, Counter-Irritant, Sudorific, Altera-
tive, and Anti-Bilious.
Grateful Thousands proclaim Vin-

No Person can take these Ritters
according to directions, and remain long
unwell, provided their bones are not de-
stroyed by mineral poison or other
means, and vital organs wasted beyond ,

entire country during the Summer and
Autumn, and remarkably so duringsea-
011s of unusual heat and dryness, are
nvariably accompanied by extensive de-
augeinents of the stomach and liver,

roatuu'iit, a purgative, exerting a pow-
■ri'ul inllucilco upon these various or-
gans, is essentially necessary. There
is no cathartic for the purpose equal to
!>k. J. Walker’s Vinegar Bitters,
is they will speedily remove the dark-
mimed viscid matter with which the,
oowels tiro loaded, at the same time
■itimjulating the secretions of the liver,
ind generally restoring the lieakh,
fin’ 'lions of tho digestive organs.
