Flushing, L. I., August 4.—Jack
Baylor and Peter Crocker fought at
five this morning before numerous
spectators. On the 23d round, Crock-
er won. Baylor was severely pun-
ished. Fight was for $500, and
middle weight championship of
America.
New York, Aug. 4.—The Cham-
bers and Seddons light was carried
out so quietly that the police were
completely beat in their attempt to
discover it. The fight took place on
Long Island, between Gravesend
and Utrecht. The men walked into
the ring in plain clothes, Chambers
in splendid condition, Seddons
showed signs of ovei training. For-
ty-seven rounds were fought. Cham-
bers drew first blood. Both came
to time promptly until after the 40th
round, when Leddons showed effect
of heavy punishment. At the end of
the 47th round, Seddons’ face was
pummelled to a jelly and failing to
come to time, his second threw up
the sponge. I Ie was barely able to
stand. Chambers not much hurt.
The Cholera.
Indianapols, August 4.—Two
cholera deaths here yesterday. One
death at Evansville.
Cattle Plague.
St. Louis, Aug. 4.—Texas cattle
plague prevails in Northwest Mis-
souri. During past two weeks sev-
eral thousand have died. Loss esti-
mate! > at $^0,000.
The CropH.
Louisville, August 4.—Recent
rains have brought out corn and to-
bacco crops' in Eastern Kentucky
finely, and both promise well. In
the blue grass region, corn promises
well, and wheat is generally good
throughout Central and Southern
Kentucky. In Western Kentucky

The Sherman ring has manipulat-
ed the west out of her railroad pros-
pects for the present. But we sur-
mise that the aforesaid ring will hear
a small thunder clap before a twelve
months shall pass. It rains upon the
