charged with having procured an
abortion about two years ago on a

Tho Fort Worth Slandaid says:
“The water haulers of this city have
had several meetings, and propose
where consumers aie able to jury
and fail to do so, to mutually ex-
change information to prevent im-

and needy who are cases of charity,

press says: “Wo rogrot to hear that
C’apt. Antomon Meochaca, who vvas
born in San Antonio in the 1800,and
who fought for tho independence u(
Texas, is very ill. His recollections
of San Antonio long before the
Americans set foot in it, and after-
wards when he was the companion
of Bowie/Travis and Crockett,would
form a hook more interesting and
thrilling than tho wildest romance.”
Tho Fort Worth Standard says:
“The Tyler Tap narrow gauge rail-
road, now in operation for twenty-
two miles from Tyler to tho Texas
k Pacific, is also graded a dislanco
of forty-six miles to Mount Pleasant,

San Antonio is to enjoy some
raro sport soon, says tho Express:
“San Antonio will, in a low days,
be the scpiio ol a novol kind of a
battle. The contest will ho be-
tween a large Texas hull and a lion-
ess. Until a few years ago, Mexi-
can maladores were privileged to
visit this city and inaugurate bull-
figi ts, hut tho practice was done
away with by city ordinance. The
ordinance, it seems, is in conflict
with the Stale Constitution, which
licenses bull-fighting, and the mana-
gers of the New York Menagerie, |
now hero with their animals, pro- ;
poso to tako advantage of this legal
incongruity and put one of tluir
fierce lions in tho ring against tho |
largest and most vicious hull that i
can he found. Such a struggle fm j
the master.) will certainly invite a i
very laige attendance, more on ac-1
count of its novelty than for any-1
thing else. As to the mortality of
an entertainment of th s nature, the
reader may justly be doubtful, yet;
that morbid curiosty which is so
comm m will covet trom many more
or less interest tu the result of tLe j
