A rumor has been current to-day
to the effect that tho train robber,
Sam Bass and gong were attacked
near Pilot Point this morning by a
posse of pursuers and Bass fatally
wounded in the shoulder. Wo have
'ailed to trace tho rumor to anything
reliable and are inclined to doubt
its truth,for tho reason that wo have
roliable information that Bass was
in Atoka, I. T. Saturday.
Wo would again romind the peo-
ple living in the suburbs and those
conveniently near the city that this

lecture last night on Mohammedan-

the effect of bringing a largo trade
to tbe town, just liko the parent

pasturage. All that is necessary is
to be an expert bog cultivator and
show them the road to tbo city nnd
a fortune is made without further ex-
pense.
A certain councilman who has a co-
zy Imme^urroondcd by pretty culti-
vated grounds, was compelled a few
nights since, to light a lantern and
malto and an assault on a herd of
swine that was destroying his fruits
and shrubery. It was n disagreeable
wet night and after the abovo men-
tioned councilman bad galloped over
bis grounds in his night clothes for
half an hour, knocked seven sections
of skin off bis shins, and sustaining
innumerable other injtmes and mis-
haps, he propped and patched up a
disabled gate and returned to bis
couch a confirmed anti hog man.
