/Mr. H. Tone is preparing an abstract
of title office for the city of Denison, be-
gining with a copy of the records to the
present time. lie proposes to have daily
reports of every title placed on record at
Sherman, thus furnishing a complete
record of every lot in the city. The work
will be ready in about one month.
Our fellow townsman J110. G. McElva-
ney received a dispatch Wednesday re-
garding some land and mining interests
which demanded his immediate presence
in Denver, and he started Thursday morn-
ing. lie will probably be absent ten days
or two weeks. We hope he has struck a
gold mine and, will come back soon and
teach the rawhides there is a God in
l/.rael.
We neglected through inadvertence to
call attent on to the law card of W Lon
if- Persons, when first inserted. Mr.
WiLon is one of the pioneer citizens of
Denison and is well and favorably known
to all the “old settlers.” As an attorney
he has made a good reputation in our
city. Mr. Persons has been a resident o1
Denison a couple of months or Ion ;cr, is
an attorney of ability, and brings with
him from Mississippi lelters from the first
legal gentlemen in the State.

day for Illinois, to visit friends.
Major W. R. Woodard was in the city

to the house for several days threatened
with an attack of paralysis, is recover.ng.
Col. C. W. Nelson is spending the heat-
ed term in Geneva, Switzerland, much
improved in health. He will return to
Denison in Octohi r.

The brick they are now burning is very
excellent.
Mr- <rs. Kahlcr & Keffler are putting in
the foundation for Major Strang's resi-
lience, corner of Houston and Sears streets
The building is to he 32 by 60 feet—a real
southern residence, with a sixteen loot hull
through the center. •
Mr rs. Ledrick & Robbins have the
largest store in Denison. The comple-
tion of their building gives them a ground
floor so by 125 feet. This immense estab-
lishin nt is now filled to overflowing with
furniture of every discretion, glass and
,jUet ns ware, etc. The firm claim to have
.1 stock equal in value and general assort-
ment to any house in Northern Texas.
But they are too modest: it is our opinion
tiu-ir sioik surpasses anything in this sec-
tion. Messrs. Ledrich & Robbins propose
to come right down to “ brass tacks ” in
prices. Call and walk through the estab-
lishment whether you want to purchase
or not.
Thursday evening Mr. R. A. Baird of
Mississippi, Deputy of the National
Grange, who arrived here Wednesday,
proceeded to organize in this city a Subor-
dinate Grange of the Patrons of I In-—
