CHRISTIAN SCIENCE
SERVICES
“Ancient and Modern Necrom-
ancy, alias Mesmerism and Hyp-
notism, Denounced” is the sub-
ject of the Lesson-Sermon which
will be read in all Churches of
Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, June
The Golden Text is: “Sing unto
the Lord, praise ye the Lord: for
he hath delivered the soul of the
poor from the hand of evildoers”
(Jeremiah 20:13).
Among the citations which com-
prise the Lesson-Sermon is the
following from the Bible: “Submit
yourselves therefore to God. Re-
sist the devil, and le will flee
from you. Draw nigh to God, and
he will draw nigh to you. . . ,
Humble yourselves in the sight of
the Lond, and he shall lift you
up” (James 4: 7, 8, 10).
The Lesson-Sermon also includ-
es the following passage from
the Christian Science textbook,
“Science and Health with Key to
the Scriptures” by Mary Bakes.
Eddy: “In the quiet sanctuary of
earnest longings, we must deny
rally Tuesday night at the First
Christian church of Paducah.
Rev. Goodrich, former pastor of
the local church, discussed lives of j "

During May Rev. Goodrich has
been touring the state and speak-
ing in principal cities about the
Golden Jubilee Christian Endeavor
convention which will be held at
the East Dallas Christian church
June 20-23. The convention will
attract young people from nine
different religious bodies and
from many cities throughout the
state.
A feature of the convention
program will be the appearance of
Dr. Daniel A. Poling, World Pres-
ident of Christian Endieabor, noted
radio speaker, magazine editor,
traveler, author of many hooks,
and pastor of a large church.
Already hundreds from over the
state have registered for the con-
vention. Rev. Goodrich said. A
number of Padueahans plan to at-

May 22, at the home of Mrs.
Clarence Parker, the 1923 Study
club heard Mrs. B. F. Hobson re-
view “The Lure of Alaska,” Harry
A. Franck’s interesting travel
book.
Mrs. Hobson gave a splendid
resume of this informing book
which contains facts as well as
entertainment. Also a revealing
book, it pictures Alaska not as a
bleak and dreary land, but as a
garden of amazingly colored wild
flowers blooming luxuriantly at
the very foot of snowpeaks and
immense winding glaciers.
In business session the presi-
dent, Mrs. Sherrod Willimas, gave
a report of the recent Seventh
District convention held at Sham-
rock. She tol/1 of the election of
Mrs. Goedeke of Lubbock as dis-
trict president and announced that
the next convention site would be
named later by the board of di-
rectors.

ed Mesdames Sherrod Williams,
B. F. Hobson and C. R. Wood for
their perfect attendance records
during the club year which closed
with this session.
