most In demand by millers and
buyers.
Authorities who conducted the
•Chord pointed out that the Co-
manche. Tenmarq wheat group
had the best milling qualities
because of Its high gluton con-
tent They advised planting Ten-
mnrq, Westar, Wichita and Co-
manche
Warning against planting
varieties of the Chlefkan and
F.arly Blackhull group, they
pointed out that Early Blaek-
hull, Red Chief and Chlefkan
have very poor milling qualities
due to their glut on content,
If you plant, early maturing
varieties, Wichita and Tenmarq
are considered to have fair mill-
ing and baking qualities, the ex
perts said.
Keats E. Soder, director of the
Texas - Oklahoma wheat im-
provement school; Fred Dines,
wheat Improvement director of
Trx-O-Kan mills; and F. A Mill
er, agronomist with the Texas ex-
tension service and four boys
and a director from lhe Ama-
rillo Grain Exchange conducted
the school. Samples of wheat
were passed and Identifying
marks were pointed out.
“This is the second year we
have put. on this program,"
said County Agent Hugh Clear-
man, "and we believe it is a good
thing "
In 1047, Deaf Smith /County
was reported as having 65 per
cent desirable or acceptable
wheat by millers Last year, after
instruction on the subject, farm-
ers jumped the buying status to
H5 per cent desirable or ac-
ceptable wheat
