There Is A Dark Cloud Over
Matagorda County
We are losing our hospital, unemployment remains over
12% which is approximately twice the national average, crime is
running rampant and industry has all but abandoned this county.
If you want to know why these problems plague our county, ask
your county officials.
• WHY in 1993* a branch of county government paid over a quarter of
a million dollars in attorney's fees to a local private attorney?
' ' V
• WHY county officials spent one hundred thousand dollars of county
money to subsidize a private drinking club operated on county
owned property? -
• WHY this county does not have a juvenile detention center despite
our juvenile crime problem?
• WHY We waste hundreds of thousands of dollars every year
renting equipment?
• WHY $30,(XX),000.00 just sits in the bank while the sheriff does
not have money for patrol deputies, and the hospital board is
trying to close Wagner General Hospital?
LET THE LIGHT SHINE THROUGH
THAT DARK CLOUD SO THAT
WE CAN GROW!
