and everyone is hard at work to
make the ball a success.
The ball will be at the Palacios
Recreation Center from 8 p.m. to
1 a.m. Tickets are available at
City State Bank, the Trull
Foundation and the Chamber of
Commerce office. Ticket prices
are $6 in advance or $7 at the
door. Bobby Lee is providing the
musical entertainment.
There will be a drawing for
door prizes and a costume
contest. Those attending are en-
couraged to wear costumes, but
it is not a requirement. The dress
does not have to be formal, but
rather historical (a milk maid,
blacksmith, Camp Hulen soldier,
a Spanish explorer, etc).
Also planned are hors d’oeuv-
res representing all the ethnic
groups that have contributed to
the history of the city.
A highlight of the evening will
be the presentation of the Ses-
quicentennial Court. All civic
groups are asked to nominate one
man and one woman over the age
of 65 to the court. Members of
the court will be honored for their
contributions to Palacios.
Chairman of the ball is Mary
Eggemeyer. The tickets, reserva-
tions and invitations committee
includes Becca Hendrix, Lynda
Richter, and Ruby Penland. On
the publicity and printed pro-
gram committee are Cynthia
Morales and Mary Eggemeyer.
The food committee is the
Harmonie Club. The costumes
and contest committee consists of
Colleen Claybourn and Opal
Carter. The decorations commit-
tee is Rhonda Serna, Cynthia
Morales and Roberta Ripke. The
Sesquicentennial Court committ-
ee is Mrya Brhlik, Christine
Huffman, and Cathy Fiorini.
Anyone wishing to serve on a
committee should contact Mary
Eggemeyer at 972-3960 or Coll-
een Claybourn at 972-5241.
