breaking ceremonies Monday
for the Senior Center addition.
Along with Center participants,

Jacque Moore, Sammy David-
son, Pat Howarth, Francis
Roach, Rev. M.L. Boone, Coll-

Catherine Quinn, Gladden Yo-
ung and Chamber of Commer-
ce Directors Jim Dale, Mary
Eggemeyer, Donnie Horton,
Esther Smith and Pam Counts.

Spirit high among senior center athletes

who participated go to Stan,
Gloria, Viola, and Doris (Center
staff) who took such good care of
us. Special thanks to van driver,
Tony Rodriquez and Rev. Boone
who drove the PAF van. The
spirit and loyalty to our senior
cause runs high at out Palacios
Center.
By the time the Beacon comes
out this week, ground breaking
will have taken place (on Mon-
day) for the new kitchen addi-
tion. Various fund raising events
will be taking place in May: May
15 in the afternoon a flea market
and bake sale will take place
along with the announcement of
the winner of the van; May 31,
there will be a fund raising
country dinner at the Center.
Four new Directors on the
Board of Directors for the
Friends of Elder Citizens, Inc.,
were elected Saturday by a large
gathering of the Membership.
Our congratulations go to Fay
Naul, Myra Brhlik, Martha Matt-
hews, and Bob Fiorini as new
Board Directors. All new mem-
bers were elected by acclama'-
tion.
Health screening will be Tues-
day, May 14 starting at 10:30
a.m.

National Nursing Home week
is May 12-18. The Leisure Lodge
has special events scheduled
every day of that week. Starting
the week will be an open house
Saturday and Sunday, May 11-
12.
All family and friends of
Leisure Lodge residents are cor-
dially invited to attend. Monday
at 2 p.m. we will release one
balloon for every resident. Their
name and address will be attach-
ed with a note asking the tinder
to write. Last year we had three
responses to the notes.
Other events planned for the
week are as follows:
Monday, May 13-Health/blood
pressure check at 10 a.m.;
balloons released at 2 p.m. with
volunteers needed for this event;
and a tea recital at 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday, May 14-Holy Land
slides at 2:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 15-Mexico
Day at 11:30 a.m.
Thursday, May 16-hamburger
day at 11:30 a.m.
Friday, May 17-treasure hunt
at 2 p.m. and
Saturday, May 18-fashion day
at 2 p.m.

May 5 held in conjunction with
National Nurses Appreciation
week.
