CLEANUP AREA
APRIL 3-9
Collections Made April 16
The Palacios Pride...Pick It
Up! cleanup campaign enters
the second of its four-week
phase with cleanup operations
scheduled for Zone 2 between
now and next Wednesday,
April 16.
The Zone 2 area includes all
the property between 6th and
12th Streets and between Hen-
derson and Humphrey.
The annual cleanup cam-
paign is sponsored by the
Palacios Chamber of Comm-
erce in cooperation with the
City of Paiados and Matagorda
County Pet. 3.
During the week all residents
and property owners in Zone 2
are asked to place all refuse,
debris: and brush near the
street for pickup crews which
will make the rounds in that
area beginning next Wednes-
day morning. All items to be
picked up in Zone 2 must be
ready for collection by Wed-
nesday, April 16. Cleanup
campaign crews will not make
any other rounds in that zone
after Wednesday.
A dumpster will be located
near the water tower on Rorem
Street and 10th for residents in
that zone to dispose of refuse.
Brush and limbs should be
cut in lengths no more than 3-4
feet and stacked near the curb.
Whenever possible, plastic tra-
sh bags should be used for
other refuse.
Items should also be separ-
ated into metal and non-metal
stacks and large objects such as
appliances and furniture shou-
ld be placed separately for
easier pickup.
There will be no pickups
made in alleys, either during
the cleanup campaign or after-
wards. All refuse should be
placed near the street and not
in ditches.

to Don Ray, the company's Port

“Last year in South Texas, the
company erected a little over
335,000 feet of aerial cable,
buried over 280 miles of under-
ground cable and set some 760
poles,” explained Ray.
In addition to the service
enhancement programs regard-
