Carl Emil Peterson
Funeral services for Carl Emil
Peterson, 82, a long time resident
of Olivia and a native of Sweden,
were held at the Church of Christ
in Olivia Sunday with Ira Wil-
liams officiating.
Born February 12, 1868, at Res-
velle, Sweden, Mr. Petersen died
last Friday.
Pallbearers were Paul and Allen
Abraham, David, Robert, Ludwig,
and Kenneth Peterson.
Survivors include nine children,
Ethel C. Abraham and Ida M.
Griffth of Olivia, Catherine M.
Burke of Galveston, Bertha J.
Oehlert of Alta Loma, Ella De-
Bord of Olivia, Ruth Taylor of
Japan, Emil and Alvin Peterson
of Palacios, and Glenn Peterson
of Jacksboro; three nrothers, Gus-
tav Jonasson and August Sieg-
fried of Sweden, and Lenus Peter-
son of Olivia; and one sister, Mrs.
Ida Anderson of Sweden.

NOTICE OF HEARING ON PRO-
POSAL TO CONVERT, MATA-
GORDA COUNTY NAVIGATION
DISTRICT NO. 1 TO A NAVIGA-
TION DISTRICT OPERATING
UNDER ARTICLE XVI, SEC-
TION 59 OF THE CONSTITU-
TION OF' TEXAS
To The Qualified Voters And
Property Owners Of Matagorda
County Navigation District No. 1
And To All Other Interested Per-
sons:
Notice is hereby given that a
hearing will be held before the
Board of Navigation and Canal
Commissioners of Matagorda Coun-
ty Navigation District No. 1 at
10:00 a.m. on the 27th day of
January, 1951, at Chamber of Com-
merce in the City of Palacios,
Texas, pursuant to the following
resolutions adopted by said Board:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board
of Navigation and Canal Com-
missioners of Matagorda County
Navigation District No. 1:
1. It is hereby declared that in
the judgment of said Board it is
for the best interests of said Dis-
trict and will be a benefit to the
lands and property included in said
District to become a Navigation
District operating under the pro-
visions of Article XVI, Section 59
of the Constitution of Texas.
2. A hearing on the proposal to
convert said District to a Naviga-
tion District operating under the
provisions of Article XVI, Section
59 of the Constitution of Texas,
is hereby called to be held at 10:00
A.M. on the 27th day of January,
1961, at the following prublic place
within said District, to-wit: Cham-
ber of Commerce, Palacios, Texas,
at which hearing all interested
persons may appear and offer test!
mony for or against the proposal to
convert said Matagorda County
Navigation District No. 1 to a
Navigation District operatng under
the provisions of Article XVI, Sec-
tion 59 of the Constitution of
Texas .
3. Notice of the adoption of
this resolution stating the time and
place of the hearing and setting
out a copy of this resolution in
full shall be published once a week
for two consecutive weeks, the first
publication to appear not less than
fourteen (14) full days prior to
the date fixed for said hearing.
ADOPTED this 5th day of Jan-
uary, 1951.

Mrs, Lenard Chappell of El
Campo and L. D. Chappell motored
to (Galveston last Thursday to
bring Mr. Chappell’s wife home
from John Sealy Hospital, where
she had been taking treatments
for arthritis for two weeks. Her
condition is improved and she notes
freer movement and less pain. Mrs.
Chappell expressed thanks for the
many gifts she received at Christ-
mas from friends and neighbors.
