Four Stars Appear In “The
Runaway”
State Committee Backs
Governor
Wichita Falls, Texas June—
14.—Indorsement of the pres-
ent state administration of a
second term for all faithful
efficient public servants, and
of party support as a test of
party membership were con-
tained in resolutions adopted
by the state democratic exe-
cutive committee here Monday
morning. Candidates were cer-
tified, two provisionally.
San Antonio was selected as
the next meeting place of the
democratic state convention
and Dallas was chosen as the
city in which the executive
committee will meet August
9 to canvass the returns of
the first primary.
Final adjournment was ta-
ken at 2:40 p. m. after Hum-
phrey of Dallas had been
elected to succeed Dwight Lie-
welling resigned as a member
of the executive committee.
It was understood at the clo-
se of the meeting that those
candidates certified provision-
ally would comply with the
conditions set and be formally
certified by the secretary.
Saturday Last Day
To-morrowr Saturday June
19th. is the last day for can-
didates for county and prec-
inct offices to file their written
request with the county chair-
man of the executive commit-
te for a place on the ticket.
Failure of a candidate to make
this application in the required
time will prevent his name
from appearing on the ticket.
Apportionment For Candidates
At a meeting of the execu-
tive committee to be held Mon-
day June 21st. the estimate
of the cost of holding the pri-
mary election will be made
and the cost apportioned
among the various candidates.
Each candidate must pay his
pro-rata part of the costs to
the chairman on or before
June 28th. failure of a candi-
date to pay his pro-rata of the
expenses will prevent his name
from appearing on the ticket.
Six Candidates For Governor
» There are six candidates for
the office of governor—Mrs.
Miriam A. Ferguson, Dan
Moody, Lynch Davidson, Mrs.
Edith Wilmans, Mrs. T. K.
Johnson and Rev. V. F. Zim-
merman.
The race is centered on three
of the candidates, Mrs. Fergu-
son, Mr. Moody and Mr. Da-
vidson. There is a “slogan” at-
tached to each of these three
candidates as for Mrs. Fergu-
son—“Me for Ma” for Moody
“Dan’s the Man”—for David-
son “Lynch has a Cinch”.
Get a slogan, boost your
choice, no time for “riding the
fence” as there is good tim-
ber to select from for the next
governor.
County And Precinct
Candidates
With opposition in most
every county and precinct of-
fice the aspirants are kept
busy as the time draws near
for the lining up for the final
day of the primary. The tim-
ber for these offices is good j
to select from so the “voter” j
has an opportunity to place a j
good man in office.
One Candidate Withdraws

MONEY SCARCE? No, money is not
scarce—there is just as much money as ever.
But CREDIT, which is partly based on
money, cannot be given as freely as when
the community is producing something to
sell.
A BANK ACCOUNT is a mighty fine
thing to fall back upon during hard times.
