Cranek of Colorado Cou-
nty. It is now in the
process of evaluating and
recommending a fund-
ing priority list for con-
sido'-'tinn bv the Texas
Department of Commun-
ity Affairs and the Gov-
ernor.
Some $3,000,000 is av-
ailable under the Texas
Community Development
Program to eligible cit-
ies and counties in the
H-GAC region.
Community Develop-
ment funds can be cru-
cial to local government
efforts to preserve the
quality of neighborhoods
and to upgrade basic
facilities such as streets,
sewers and drainage. Co-
mmunities use the funds
based on their own local
priorities and needs No
local matching funds are
required.
The Regional Review
Committee is reviewing
the applications present-
ed by eligible cities and
counties. That review in-
cludes evaluation of the
individual project appli-
cations and recommenda-
tion to the Governor of
funding priorities based
upon the Review Comm-
ittee's findings. The Co-
mmittee will complete its
work on this year's re-
quests by September 30.

nts, a program being
administered this year
for the first time by the
State of Texas.
