Hallettsville Texas.
October 22, 1925.
To the Hon. Lester Holt Judge
We your Grand Jury, duly
empaneled for the October
Term of the District Court of
Lavaca County herewith sub-
mit the following report.
We have diligently exami-
ned all matters brought to our
attention by examining Magis-
trates or from any other
source whatever and as a res-
| ult of our investigations have
found 5 True Bills, 3 being
for felonies and 2 for misde-
meanors.
We found the county jail
and court house kept in sani-
tary condition. We would
suggest that the prisoners be
furnished with additional
blankets, that some of the
cells be equipped with new
locks and that additional sto-
ve pipes be placed in the jaii
There is need for a light in
the lavatory on the 3rd floor
of the court house.
We found the county poor
farm well kept in excellent
condition and the inmates sa-
tisfied. Sanitary conditions
make it imperative that the
poor farm be equipped with
additional bath tubs.
We have investigated a
great number of alleged vio-
lations of the Dean Law but
due to reluctance of witnesses
to testify have found it im-
possible except in a few cases
to procure evidence sufficient
to substantiate indictments.
We desire to thank the
State Attorneys and the Bail-
iffs for their services in con-
nection with our investiga-
tions.
Respectfully submitted,
T. J. Ponton,
Foreman.

FOOT—BALL
Hallettsville Hi and Weimar
Hi will play a game of fooi
ball here this afternoon on the
school grounds at 4 o’clock.
A good game assured, come
out and help the boys win.
The Hallettsville High
School football team and the
LaGrange High battled to a
0-0 tie in LaGrange last Mon-
day on a muddy field.
The game was scheduled
for last Friday but owing to
the heavy rains was postponed
and played Monday.
LaGrange has a strong team
and was “doped” to win but
they were clearly outplayed
and outfought by the local
boys.
The entire last quarter of
the game was played in La
Grange’s territory with the
ball in striking distance of the
goal but due to the fact that
this portion of the field was
extremely muddy the local
boys were unable to push
over the winning touchdown.
The next game of the sea-
son will be played here today
(Friday) with Weimar.
