they can find nothing to eat. Of
course not, and they’ll never get it
simply by looking for it. The safe

Trying for the Epworth League
The TexasEpworth LeSgue-of the
Methodist church has just sold its en-
campment grounds it Corpus Christi,
and this time the sale has been
completed. Two years ago the grounds
were sold but the'sale was nullified
through the interposition of Corpns
Christi people. At the time of the
reported first sale Palacios through its
Board of Trade made * proposition to
the League people to' establish their en
campment at Palacios, and the matter
was considered with considerable favor
by the officers and committee of the
association. Since this last and final
sale was reported the Board of Trade
through the activity of Col. Hensel has
again invited inspection of Palacios as
a location for a hew encampment
ground for the League, together with an
invitation to hold their next year’s en-
campment here on the B. Y. P. U.
grounds. No report has yet been re-
ceived as to the action of the League
officers on this invitation but it will
have consideration, and there is good
prospects of getting them here for their
next year's meeting, and if they will
come and meet here once before select-
ing a new site, Palacios will be sure to
get them located here permanently.
Anyway it can be depended on that
the Board of Trade will spare no effort
to secure the Epworth League as a per-
manent Palacios institution.
Mr. Duncan Ruthven, president, and
Mr. C. J.Wildmin, vice-president, of the
Board of Trade, will leave tonight for
Corpus Christi, to lay the Palacios
proposition before the locating commit-
tee in person, the remaining members of
which committee tVill be chosen by the
League tomorrow. . If merit and good
works such as these Palacios represen-
tatives can and will do will be of any
avail, the Epworth League folks will
come to Palacios next year; and if we
get them once we are sure they will
stay with us.

Boiled and Minced Ham, Brick
cheese at the Curtis-Sisson Gro. Co,
News of the past two days tells that
hands of Mexican brigands are crossing
the Rio Grande and terrorising settlers
on the state border, and threatening an
invasion of Texas. Extra state and
federal troops are being sent to the
scene to drive the invaders back on
their own territory. This may be the
beginning of what will be armed inter-
vention in Mexico by the U. S.. and
which it now appears will yet be neces-
sary to restore peace in that distrciied
country. If this comes then this coun-
try will also have to establish a provi-
sional govern mftrt until the Mexicans
are prepared to control the country
peaceably. It may even go further and
and in annexation of the whole of Mex-
ico to tha U. S.
