Swimming pool
okayed at Goliad
Hopes for public recrea-
tional facilities for citizens of
Goliad County got a boost this
week when the Commissioners
Court and the Trustees of
Goliad Independent School
District endorsed the idea of a
swimming pool in Goliad State
Park. Although the county and
school said they favor the
construction of a swimming
pool in the park, neither
promised any money.

Park sign
criticized
“WE THE CITIZENS OF
PALACIOS, REGRET THAT
THIS CAMPER PARK WAS
FORCED TO CLOSE. THERE
ARE CAMPER PARKS IN
THE PALACIOS AREA THAT
WILL WELCOME YOU. EN-
JOY YOUR STAY." This is the
wording on a sign erected at
the corner of Duson and Sixth
Street last week.
Who put ip the sign? Who
has the right to speak for the
citizens of Palacios? It was not
erected by the City of
Palacios-who welcomed trav-
elers to Palacios by fixing up a
camper park on the site but
due to opposition from a few
had to cease operation of the
camp. Could it have been
placed there by the few who
opposed the park? Or the
group who were offered a
donation to their building fund
by one of those who opposed
the park if a sign was put up?
Do they have the right to say
“We, the citizens of
Palacios”? Why didn’t they
say We, the following citizen
of Palacios, regret....?
