Commission in Austin, has
announced that the Com-
mission has allocated a grant
of $35,000 to the restoration
program for the historic Tex-
ana Presbyterian Church
building in Edna. The United
States Department of the
Interim- rates the Tevana Pres-
byterian Church as one of the
top priority restoration pro-
jects in the state of Texas for
the year of 1980. The Texas
Historical Commission’s
$35,000 award is a grant-in-aid
that will be matched by
contributions made to the fund
by individuals, corporation
and foundations.

from around Jackson County
met Tuesday morning at the
First Presbyterian Church of
Edna to establish a non-profit
corporation to contract with
the Area Agency on Aging to
administer some $20,000 in
grant monies earmarked until
April 1 for the improvement of
the current Senior Citizens
Civic Center at Pioneer Park in
Edna.

upcoming “Klowin' for Kids"
campaign. This fund raising
drive will contribute to the
construction of Ronald Mc-
Donald Houses in Houston and

houses Is to provide a "home
away from home” for the
families of children who must
undergo treatment for cancer
or other related illnesses.

monie Club's annual Sweet-
heart Dance.
Alcoa Point Comfort Op-
erations announced plans for a
multi-million dollar expansion

City council called an elec-
tion to elect a mayor, two
councilmen to 2-year terms
and one to a 1-year term.
Palacios Freezers, Inc. had
been acquired by Atlanta
Trading Corporation of New
York.
The annual Cub Scout Blue
and Gold banquet will be held
Tuesday night at East Side
cafeteria.
The 7th grade Hornets
defeated Ganado 34 to 21 to
win district championship.
Births announced were: Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Michalik a boy
on Feb. 6 and Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Lewis. Jr. a girl on
Feb. 15.

attention for the most expedi-
ent solutions. Working toge-
ther with interested citizens,
civic groups and council can
bring about the solutions
needed.
“I pledge to work closely
with city council and outside
governing agencies in an
objective posture. Certain
agencies have been highly
critical of city operation
recently. I propose to face
these situations openly with
full disclosure to council and
citizens to achieve the most
workable solutions.

new businesses, tourism and
the recreational facilities at
our disposal. Ordinance en-
forcement, appointment of a
fire marshal, city inspector for
buildings, plumbing and elec-
trical will be initiated to place
the city on firm ground for
future expansion.

and two years as councilman,
has shown me the need for a
'Fresh Start'. Every citizen is
encouraged to vote in the
coming election April 5, 1980.

Mrs. Judy Hart, secretary.
With voters of county com-
missioner precinct No. 1, 2 and
4 participating in a special
election Saturday, a navigation
district and $500,000 in tax
