Following in tht* report of the
committee appointed by the
Teachers Institute of Coleman
county to formulate a plan of
graduation in the public schools:
1. The board of examiners
shall .consist of five resident
teachers holding first grade cer-
tificates. That we request the
slate superintendent to appoint
one in January, the county
Judge to appoint two, and that
the Institute select the other
two at the February meeting.
3. That, the questions for ex-
amination be made out by the
members of the board and sub-
mitted to the state superinten-
dent for his approval.
3. That the examination be
he!4 fit (he public school build-
ing, in Coleman, on June 15,18
and 17.1893.
4. That we give two grades
of certificates—first and second
grades. Applicants for second
grade will be examined in or-
thography, reading, writing,
arithmetic, grammar, composi-
tion, U. S. history, Texas his-
tory and geography. Appli-
cants for first grade will be ex-
amined in all the above studies
and in algebra, geometry, phi-
losophy, physical geography,
phsiology and civil govern-
ment. That after 1893 appli-
cants who hold second grade
certificates shall", not be re-ex-
amined in those studies em-
braced in this certificate. To
secure a certificate the 'appli-
cant must make not less than
60 per cent in each study and
an average of not less than 70
per cent in all studies.
5 That all candidates' for
graduation' shall make a writ-
ten application to the president
of the board of examiners not
later than May 1, and that said
application be accompanied by
a fee of one dollar, and that
this shall constitue the total
cost of the certificate to the
applicant.
6. The committee recom-
mends that the delivery of the
cei tificates be public. That the
examining board arrange a
proper programme for the occa-
sion, and select some suitable
person to deliver the certificates
to the successful candidates.
