Demonstration Club
The Deutschburg Home Demon-
stration Club met at 2 p.m. Jan-
uary 28 with Mrs. Ray Clements
as hostess. There were eight mem-
bers and two visitors present. Kell
call wa3 answered with “A Fact
About Jackson County”.
Members were remindedi of the
Rice Clinic which will be held at the
armory in Edna February 3 at
which agent Karen Keevcrt will be
in charge of the women’s program.
Mrs. Ray Clements gave the dem-
onstration on "Women’s Protec-
tion”.
The next meeting will be Febru-
ary 18 with Mrs. Martha Kubecka
as hostess.

Garden Study Club
The Tres Palacios Garden Club
met Tuesday afternoon, January 27
at the home of Miss Minda Barr.
The new president, Mrs. F. M.
Jackson, had charge of the meet-
ing. New committees were appoint-
ed for the ensuing year.
Roll call was answered with
items of interest on various sub-
jf.cts. As there was rio special
program each one read an iriteres -
ing current event. “Get well” cards
were signed by those present to
send to members ill in the hospital.
During the social hour the host-
ess served refreshments of Ritz
crackers with cheese spread and
chicken salad, pineapple tarts and
coffee.
The next meeting will bo with
Mrs. Eleanor Louderback when
Mrs. Roberts will display various
articles of her handiwork;.—Re-

Meet In Bay City

Wedding Announced
Miss Cheryl Mick became the
bride of Lester Franklin Marquart,
Jr. Saturday, January 24, in double
ring ceremonies held at 1 p.m. in
the First United Methodist Church
of Lake Jackson.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mlrs. George Carl Mick and
the groom’s parents are Mr. and
Mrs. L. F. Marquart, Sr., all at
Lake Jackson. The groom’s mother
is the former Mary Emma Bartlett,
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Homer R. Bartlett of Palacios.
O. E. A. Meeting
The O. E. A. Club during the
month of Januaiy has been very
active in getting the newspaper
out. The Club along with the mem-
bers has done much toward the
making, getting news, and selling
the newspaper. The Club has also
been active in helping the F. T. A.
Club in their T. T. A. Convention.
It helped by getting the F. T. A.
Booklets printed and put together.
Some of the O. E. A. members
are working toward improving
themselves and getting ready for
the O. E. A. Contest which will be
held in San Antonio on March 6
and 7. Further details will be given

Birthdays Celebrated
Elizabeth and Robert Hardung
were honored with a party on Jan-
uary 29 in honor of their birthday
by their mother and sisters, Patsy,
Earlene and Wanda Hardung.
The guests gathered at the Har-
dung home at 900 Magnusson from
2 to 4 for an afternoon of fun.
Refreshments of white and choco-
late cake, decorated by Mrs. Jimmi*
Flores, Jr., and punch were served
to Lisa Ottino, Tammy Eddenfield,
Dolly, Keith, Brian, Paula and

Many were unable to attend due to
the flu.

The meeting was called to order
by our leader, Mrs. Jewel. We then
had the opening and roll call. Later
we sang several songs. Then we
made Valentines. We had refresh-
ments brought by Stephanie Kelly.
Then we drew out of the refresh-
ment can to see who would bring-
them next week. IWe then cleaned
up and had our closing before w*
