The annual TEXAS DAY
DINNER was held Friday
night at the Luther, and as
usual the food was plentiful,
delicious, and beautifull This
is a farewell dinner for our
winter guests who have given
us so much joy all season, and
a fitting climax to what we
hope was a successful winter
visit. An arrangement of yel-
low 'mums and yellow tulips
centered the banquet table,
and for each individual table, a
small bouquet of ‘mums,
topped with a Texas flag, was
placed in the center. Each
couple brought a dish that they
had prepared, and the menu
ranged from baked ham, fried
chicken, and are you ready for
this, armadillo prepared by
that irrepresible Lou Gilling-
ham and Margaret Bolleart,
and vegetable dishes such as
escalloped potatoes, sweet po-
tatoes with marshmallows,
green beans, baked beans,
brocolli with rice, garlic grits,
macaroni and cheese, and
salads of every sort, from
mousse, tossed green salad,
beautifully molded fruit
salads, beets, deviled eggs,
and a relish dish. With coffee,
for dessert there were
delicious home-baked pies,
and the hot rolls for which
Blanche Ciaybourn is famous,
were in abundance. Besides
our winter guests, who have

over-night guests three per-
sons from Stillman College
situated in Tuscaloosa, Ala-
bama: James Williams the
Director of the choral group
who sing such heavenly music,
a young man whose name we
failed to get, and Lila Load-
wick, their organist. James
Earle also was a guest, and he riav.nt
drove the Greyhound bus that Andrea Jager, Traci Peters.
brought the group here. Mrs.
O.B. Lott and Michael Poin-
dexter of Houston, who came
to attend the wedding of
Nancy Parsley, were over-
night guests.
The V.J. Bentons were all
smiles when their daughter
and husband and their two
adorable children came from
Alabama for a long week-end
visit.
Nell and Virgil Miltenberger
had their grandson, Judson,
whose parents live in Texas
City, for a several day visit,
and he captivated everyone
with his friendly personality
and handsome face. Judson is
five.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Or-
zech of Austin, with Mr. and
Mrs. Rudolph Wagner of
Oconomoco, Wisconsin, were
guests for a short time. There
was still plenty of snow in
Wisconsin when they left, they
told us!

column, were Mrs. Jo Milam.
Mrs. Agatha Rafferty of Edna.
Mrs Blanche Ciaybourn, and
Mrs. Eleanor Miller, the lovely
wife of Mike Miller who
resides at the Luther. Mrs.
Miller came for a weeks visit
with Mike, and we regret that
she had to return to Jackson-
ville, Florida on Sunday. A
special treat for yours truly
and Charles Luther was the
prescence of Charles (Buddy)
Luther, Donnie Rose, Rovan-
na, and Garth of Houston, who
came down for the night and to
attend the dinner. There was
much lively and interesting
conversations, and apparently
was enjoyed by all. About
forty persons were present.
We were happy to have Dr.
and Mrs. E.E. Baden of
Austin, formerly of Raymond-
ville where he had practiced
for thirty years, spend a night
with us. He had been here
several years ago. With them
were Mr. and Mrs. Otho Kim
from Nebraska where Mr. Kim
is a State Senator.
Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Wisdom
and their lovely daughter who
is a law student at O.U. spent
three nights in the Penthouse,
and we were so happy to have
them. Mr. Wisdom is a banker
in Alva, Oklahoma, and is a
friend of the Dan Brocks who
are the residents of the Luther.
Mr. and Mrs. David Summers
of Houston spent a night with
us, and a most attractive
couple they were.
Mr. Summers is with J.G.
Mackin and Associates of
Houston. Keith and Miriam
Graham-Davis spent a night
with us, and plan to return for
a longer visit. Mr. Graham
-Davis is a medical student at
Baylor Medical Center in
Houston as is his charming
wife.
We were honored to have as
one goes, are a disgrace, as is
the trash along Fourth street
where the ditches are an ugly
sight. Can't something be
done?
