of Port Lavaca and the late B.
J. Charbula, to Jerry Don Smith,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey F.
Smith of Palacios, is announced
by her mother. The bride-elect,
a 1907 graduate of Calhoun High
School, attended Victoria Junior
College and is now employed at
Alcoa. The prospective groom,
senior at the University of Texas
where he is majoring in Mechan-
ical Engineering, is a 1965 grad-
uate of Palacios High School.
The wedding will take place at
2 p.m. September 13 in Our Lady
of the Gulf Catholic Church in
Port Lavaca.

Carancahua 4-H Club
The Carancahua 4-H Club was a
busy club during the month of Juna
even if they didn’t meet for a reg-
ular 4-H Club meeting.
Club members working in the
4-H concession stand for the Youth
Rodeo in Bay City were Jeanette
Eggemeyer, Linda Stuhrenberg,
Sharon, Alvin Dale and Emma Ban-
nert, also adult leaders Mrs. Ban-
nert and Mrs. Stuhrenberg.
On June 10, the following mem-
bers gave their demonstrations to
the Van Vleck and Caney Creek
Home Demonstration Clubs: Te-
resa Stuhrenberg, “Money Man-
agement”; Emma Bannert, “Fash-
ion has its ABC’s”; and Sharen
Bannert, "Smoking and its Effects’*.
On June 12, Sharon and Emma
Bannert gave their demonstration*
to the Cedar Lane Home Demon-
stration Club.
On June 18, 4-H Club members
took their Awards Trip to Galves-
ton. Those attending were Teresa
and Linda Stuhrenberg, Sharon, Al-
vin Dale, and Emma Bannert; adult
leader, Mrs. Edwin Stuhrenberg.
On June 24, 25 and 26 was the
County Development Program.
“Teen Tempo”. Attending were
Linda and Teresa Stuhrenberg,
Jeanette Eggemeyer, Sharon and
Emma Bannert, Kathy Petersen,
Dorene Kocurek, and adult eader,
Mrs. Alvin L. Bannert. Others at-
tending the Drug Abuse Forom
were Alvin Dale Bannert, John
Frankson and Mrs. Edwin Stuhren-
berg. Receiving awards for attend-
ing all four meetings were Linda
and Teresa Stuhrenberg.
Those taking part in the teen
program were Linda and Teresa
Stuhrenberg, Sharon, Alvin Dal*
and Emma Bannert.
Members taking the Awards
Trip to Astro World on June 30
were Linda and Teresa Stuhren-
berg, Sharon, Alvin Dale and Em-
ma Bannert.
Bobby Wesselman won the trip
but is taking a long vacation in
Alaska.
4-H Club members attending the
County Meeting on the District
Dress Revue were Linda and Te-
resa Stuhrenberg, Sharon and Em-
ma Bannert, Kathy Peterson and
Jeanette Eggemeyer. Dorene Ko-
curek and iMrs. Bannert also at-
tended. Club members on the Dis-
trict Dress Revue committee are
Linda and Teresa Stuhrenberg,
Sharon and Alvin Dale Bannert.
Sharon Bannert is chairman of
the County Dress Revue on July
17. Record books were due on July
n.
Members sewing for the 4-H
Dress Revue are Jeanette F.gge-
meyer, Linda and Teresa Stuhren-
berg, Kathy Peterson, Sharon and
Emma Bannert.
Our 4-H members will model
their dresses to the Home Demon-
