ceremonial lighting of down-
town Christmas decorations
and the “Christmas palm
tree” at City Park.

“Book Fair ”
Palacios Junior High School
is conducting a book fair Dec.
4-9 in the Learning Resource
Center. Paperback books and
posters are available at bar-
gain prices ranging from 99
cents to $4.95. Hours are 7:45
a.m. to3:45 p.m.
The books are suitable for
middle school age children.
Church dinner
slated Sunday
The Second Presbyterian
Church will be selling Mexi-
can plate dinners Sunday in
the church annex, corner of
9th and Morton. Serving will
begin at 12 noon with plates
priced at $3.50 each. Plates
to go will be available in
addition to those eaten at the
annex.

up by John Neuman, general
contractor at Henderson Square,

or problems concerning possible
code violations be brought to his
attention rather than to his sub-
contractors.

yield sign facing northbound
traffic coming out of the Baptist
Encampment at First and South
Bay.

who was accompanied by Pala-
cios police officer Tommy Tobi-
as and Matagorda County Sher-
iff’s Dept, officer Earl White,
brought the boat into a local
marina where it was later
picked up by family members.
A thermos bottle was found
floating near the Channel 35
marker during the search on
Sunday. Langdon had resumed
his search Monday, using an
aircraft provided and piloted by
Dan Tucker to search the bay
waters.

Vaughn that its’ computer is
outdated and incapable of handl-
ing- the-functions the city would
like for it to do.
-Lamar told the council it had
sent a letter to Betty Franshear,
owner of the pier built at 2005 E.
Bayshore, which stipulated that
she would have the pier open to
the public, accept liability and
provide maintenance. He said
site had been requested to sign
and return the letter to the city.
The council approved a motion
by Claybourn that if the letter
was not signed and returned
within 20 days the city would
then contact the state land com-
missioner to have the pier
removed.
-Approved the renewal of
delinquent tax collection contract
with Calame, Linebarger & Gra-
ham.
-Approved advertising for
bids in area papers for leasing of
airport lands for grazing, hay or
agriculture use.
-Appointed Joanna Hendricks
as representative to the Houston-
Galveston Area Council with
Robert Lee as alternate.
-Approved a motion to have
the mayor contact the Texas
Municipal League in regards to
how amendments to the budget
should be handled.
-Tabled items pertaining to
TV cable and utility company
ordinances and ordinance en-
forcement resolution.
