Assessment of Basic Ski-
I Is (TABS) tests taken by
third, fifth and ninth
graders of Palacios In-
dependent School Dis-
trict will be presented at
the June 13 Board of
Trustees meeting at 7
p.m.
This public review of
TABS results will be held
in the Board Room of the
Palacios LS.D. Adminis-
tration Building located
at 1209 Twelfth Street.
Analysis of the areas of
mathematics, reading
and writing, and how the
results may be used for
future planning and pro-
grams will be presented.
Counselors will be pre-
sent to answer questions
of a general nature.
Individual student results
were given to students at
an earlier time and will
be released to student's
parents or guardian on
request.
Over 800,000 Texas
students were tested in
February in. compliance
with Senate Bill 350
passed in 1979 mandat-
ing testing by an appro-
priate criterion referene
ed test (CRT) designed to
assess minimum basic
skills. Results can be
used by the school and
parents to pinpoint areas
of high and low student
performance. Appropri-
ate remedial programs
are designed to streng-
then various areas of
teaching and student per-
formance.
This report, presented
by the Palacios l.S.D.
counseling staff, will be
reviewed in open meet-
ing. All interested pat-
rons are invited to at-
tend.
Starting this weekend
Swimming pool opens!
Trinity Baptist presents
6Prodigal Plant9 film
The Palacios Swimming Pool will
begin its summer operations starting
this weekend. The pool will be open on
the weekends of May 21-22 and May
28 29 and commence daily operations
on May 31.
Admission to the pool for all day will
be $1 per person. The pool will be
closed on Mondays except for Adult
Swimming Class. On the remaining six
days of the week the facility will open to
the public at 1 p.m. The following are
the hours of operation for Tuesdays
thru Sundays;
Tuesday 1-7 p.m. with Family Night
from 7:30-9:30 p.m.: Wednesday 1-6
p.m. (Adult Swimming Class); Thurs-
day 1-7 p.m., Friday 1-7 p.m.; and
Sunday 1-6 p.m.
Rental rates for the t "ol are $2 per
person with the minimum of 12 persons
with one lifeguard required at $5 per
hour. Group rates are $20 per hour with
a maximum of two hours and two
lifeguards required at $5 each per hour.
Trinity Baptist Church
will present a film "The
Prodigal Plant” in two
parts on May 22 and 29 at
6:30 p.m.
From the producers of
“Thief in the Night”, “A
Distant Thunder" and
"Image of the Beast”,
this film is the next two
chapters in the tribula-
tion saga. It stars Will-
iam Wellman, Jr., Lynda
Bettie, Cathy Wellman,
Thom Rachford, Robert
Chestnut and Terri Lynn
Hall.
Everyone is cordially

A burgiary of a vehicle
on Friday resulted in the
loss of a 22-rifle. Johnny
L. Koch, 700 Rorem,
reported to police that
the rifle, a Marlin 22-long

truck. The rifle was valu-
ed at$140.
